2011 SLINGSHOT SIDE BITES ISSUES 1 TO 49 ARE BELOW

WEEKEND COMING, LINDA'S SPEEDWAY TOUR UPDATE....

Issue #49

Myerstown, Pa., April 25th, 2011:  For everyone that is itching to get some racing in, Oakland Valley squeezed their racing program in on Saturday night with Charlie Lawrence notching the All Star win over Rob Hocker and Tyler Pirone do not have the Junior or Rookie results. If anyone has them I will gladly let everyone know.

This weekend looks like it could be a little less hectic weather-wise so be prepared to head to your favorite speedway for some action.

The OSS has it's 2nd leg of the mini-series on Sunday May 1st.I have not had the chance to discuss the proposed race day schedule with him, but I know he was trying to get all the Slingshot events in before any Enduro racing. He will have the latest news on the racersroundtable.com website.

We are awaiting to hear from Janelle at Kutztown Fair Speedway on the possible sponsorship for the Dutch Classic. If all things go well, race teams will be benefitting at more than just the racetrack. Fingers are crossed awaiting some good news.

The Billy Pauch Racing School still had a few openings for anyone wanting to get Big Car Fever. The classes are at Grandview and New Egypt. If interested please check out Billy Pauch Racing School website.

Rich is paying $2000 to win the Big Kahuna Series SpeedSTR races at New Egypt with the 1st one being on May 29th.Also on May 29th paying $2000 to win is the Shellhammers Spring Spectacular. Please don't delay in pre-entering for this special event. Ricky Yetter was the 2010 winner and is hoping to be there to defend his title.

Please check the website for the driver roster, if you aren't on it, you aren't registered and must to be race weekly or on the tour circuit.

A little technical issue regarding carb. elbows. The 5/8" rule is still in effect, but the casting marks CANNOT be touched, that means no filing, sanding or removing of that casting mark. All track tech officials are asked to DQ all cars with this being done.

Just received word that the June 3rd Lindas MA Silver makeup will be a money race only for the Slingshots. The MA Silver date has been tentatively moved to June 17th.

I will await a final approval from Tom Chorpenning. The June 3rd date would be in conflict with the Hamlin Spring Sizzler which will have a picnic and a full 2 nights of racing slated for the 1/5 mile oval. We are hoping to have the support of both track teams in an effort to put a great entry list for both events.

SCHEDULES OF UP COMING EVENTS....

Issue #48

Myerstown, Pa., April 21st, 2011:  After looking at the 2011 schedule I have a few dates I need to clarify. (All dates have been updated on the website).

First off, the Empire region will be running a tour race at 5 Mile Point in Kirkwood, NY on Thursday June 23rd.

Secondly, the Reading date is listed as 9 / 8-9,it should now be 8 / 7-8 with the Juniors slated for their National on Sunday August 7th and the qualifiers and A Main for the All Stars on the 7 & 8th.

The 8 / 25 West End Fair Super National is now to be held on August 22nd.

A Junior National rain date for Kutztown's June 22nd race will be August 17th.If rain date is not needed it will be a money only race for all Juniors.

Currently OVDT has not accepted our scheduling of their Novemberfest as a National, but will be used as a Junior National rain date.

The scheduling of the All Star Slingshots at New Egypt for the November 5th Fall Jamboree could take over the OVDT date as a National.

With the recent weather conditions and the success of the OSS events at Grandview, we are taking into consideration using the Freedom 26 as a make-up date for a previously rained out National that could not be rescheduled ,if needed.

The Great Lakes Region needs to get the dates for the Regional's as well as the Nationals to me, so I can update all points charts for this year. I do know the Hartland Super National is slated for Button Buck on Saturday Sept 3rd.

The reasoning behind the Lindas Lebanon Valley 50 being a MA Gold race is because it is slated for a Saturday night.

To clarify the Junior  / All Star status is that a Junior can run an All Star event and go back to the Juniors, but they cannot run an All Star and Junior event on the same day or as part of the same program such as the 2 day show at Reading.

Borger's Speedway posted that on Friday April 22 will be a regular show for the Wingless 600 Sprints, Jr. and All Star Slingshots, Karts and Quads.  This will be a non point race.  Kart warm-ups will start at 6:00 p.m. with their entire program run after warm-ups.  The Wingless 600 Sprints, Jr. and All Star Slingshots and Quads will take to the track after the completion of the Kart program.

Saturday April 23 will feature the Annual Lid Lifter 30’s for Hoosier Racing Tires 270 Sprints,  and All-Star Slingshots.  Rookie 270 Sprints will have a regular show.  The Stage One Modifieds and Acel 600 Sportsman will run a combined show.  Time trials will replace the heats for tonight’s show to allow extra time for practice.  This will also be a non point night.  Warm-ups start at 5:00 p.m. with time trials starting after an extended practice session.  For updates check the speedway web-site www.borgers-speedway.com

Current conditions for Hamlin, Snydersville, WVMP, OVDT, Caroga Creek and Lindas is a go right now. Weather conditions tomorrow could change all plans. Please contact speedway or track websites for updates.

Just wanted everyone to know that the April Special for Valve Springs or coilover springs is still on until April 30th.Buy 4,get 2 free with a maximum of 12 total springs allowed. Coil Springs can be mix and match. I will be at Richmond next Thursday -Sunday and will check email orders when I return on Sunday afternoon.

Don't forget race 2 of the OSS mini-series will be at Grandview on May 1st.Point fund and season ending championship trophy awaits the champion at season's end. If I get an update on race schedule plans, everyone will know as well as it being posted on racersroundtable.com

Things are shaping up at Kutztown as Kerry Meitzler and crew are working on getting the May 11th opener in the record books.

WEEKEND WASHOUT, LOOK AHEAD TO  A NEW WEEK....

Issue #46

Myerstown, Pa., April 18th, 2011:  With the washout weekend in the books again, it looks like many of the tracks will be heading right to racing instead of the test & tune sessions.

Hamlin Speedway will be going right to their planned schedule and Borgers Speedway will try to get their season started. OVDT also fell victim to the weather with Shellhammers calling it a day also. If this keeps up the Hard Luck award will be given to all track operators that have lost over a month of racing to Mother Nature. Billy Maynard at Wyalusing will also be working hard to get the Wysox, PA oval back in racing conditions.

Snydersville Raceway found Tom Arntz, Jr taking the checkered in the 99S on Friday night. Looks like Tom is off to a good start for 2011.

The Slingerwarehouse Dual Track Series and Slingshot by Tobias MA Silver Tour are coming together Friday April 22nd for what is set to be one great night of racing at the high banked quarter mile. Practice will get underway at 7 with racing starting at 730. Take a ride out to the Jonestown, Pa oval located right off Int 81 and Rt 72 to get your season started off the right way. Anyone looking for any information on Linda's Speedway can go to lindasspeedway.com or contact Paul Lotier @ slingerwarehouse 717-821-6830.The MA Silver Tour, like I had stated earlier was designed for all tracks that do not have a weekly Saturday night program. This gives all race teams another night to get some racing in at speedways, you might normally not get a chance to race at. The Selinsgrove Raceway Park races are listed on their track schedule, which is a positive for the Slingshots as many race fans in that area make a point of attending the nights when the Slingshots run.

The first Junior National is slated for Shellhammers on June 11th.This will be the first Great 8 points race for the younger drivers and since many areas school will be done,it will give families a chance to celebrate a long school year being over, by going racing. We realize that many of the drivers participate in scholastic sports so if you need the payout directed to a parent or guardian to keep their amateur status, please make sure arrangements are made prior to the payout being given.

The red chassis with yellow on white body mounted, is here awaiting a new owner.

Kutztown PR mogul Barry Angstadt is asking for all race team info be directed to him for use during the 2011 Kutztown Fair Speedway racing season. Barry will be taking over the announcing and media duties and is one of the best in not just small car racing, but racing in general in letting fans know the what, how and whys of all race teams, if info is given to him. Many of you know why I gave Barry the nickname, "The Voice of Choice", his skill behind the mic is heard at Reading, LANCO and now Kutztown as well as being the Speedway Entertainment Awards Banquet MC. Driver info, sponsor, season plans and crew help will surely get the ball rolling. His email is bwa39@comcast.net.

Pete Knappenberger at RPM Used Slinger Parts and Racers Roundtable also would like to keep team news in front of the public. His OSS events at Grandview on selected Sundays will see a year end point champion be announced along with the RPM Cup. The recent news of the winner's payout for the remaining OSS events reaching $500 (minimum car count) has been verified.

Keep your fingers crossed for a clear, sunny weekend.

WEEKEND NEWS....

Issue #45

Myerstown, Pa., April 15th, 2011:  With Mother Nature looming in the distance, please check with your local speedway regarding racing conditions at your weekly track or track you were planning on attending. The August 17th addition of the Juniors at Kutztown currently is a money race only, but if the June 22nd Junior National gets rained out, we will be using this as their rain makeup.

We just got a shipment of gears in from 58 to 68.Air filter pre-filters are in stock. Wide steel wheels were shipped yesterday. There is currently a few of the narrows here. Aluminum wheels are also on the way, we currently have a few in stock. All the heims are in stock and we just received the 12" steering wheels. There are a few 14" aluminum steering wheels left.

Throttle cables and brake cables are here along with front axles and a complete supply of stainless steel side rails and front and rear bumpers. Currently have about 30 DURO's here. We have put another order in for Bilstein Shocks. There are about 60 left on the shelf. I will be putting the April 2011 Price Guide together next Monday and will send it out in a group email. To answer a few questions regarding the Fall Jamboree at New Egypt Speedway in November, the 14 year old minimum age will be in effect. All safety equipment will be checked. If car was inspected at AC and the sticker is still intact, it most likely will pass through inspection.

I was trying to get a date for the money race at Selinsgrove Raceway Park and there were 2 dates that surfaced that will have many teams in the area. First would be September 16th,but I just took notice that Lindas has the Slingshots on the schedule. I was trying to have that as the lead-in to the Hamlin National, but I do not want to interfere with Lindas. Second choice would be September 25th as part of Raceway Park's 270 micro championship. This would be a Sunday afternoon/ evening.

Reed Miller wants everyone to know that the Penn Can Speedway Battle by the Border on Sunday September 4th is shaping up nicely and it will be a National this year. Also Five Mile Point Speedway will be hosting the Slingshots on Thursday June 23rd with an Empire Region Tour race. Penn Can is located 8 miles from the Susquehanna Exit on Int 81.It is the last exit in PA. Five Mile Point is located in Kirkwood, NY which is one of the first exits in NY.

I really would like to thank everyone that sent well wishes for my mother. She was released from the hospital last week and was cleared to resume normal daily activities, (driving included). It was also great to see Rick Arnold at the Grandview OSS event after his hospital stay.

There are a few drivers I have seen on results pages that must be registered and I will be in contact with them. The most recent registrations were listed on the website. if you do not see your name there, please contact me or I will be contacting you.

Caroga Creek is looking for a weather break as the 3/16th mile always has some close, competitive racing and looking forward to getting their 2011 season started.

I have a pdf. file for the Shellhammers Spring Spectacular. If you want it sent to you, please get back to me. It is a Super National this season with 30 points added to every feature spot and all DNF's. With 22 cars starting, points will be in decreasing order back to 30th,31st on back will get 50 points.1 Super National will be used for the National Elite 11 Point Championship.

A special thanks from all involved at the Junior Challenge at Greenwood Valley Action Track last week. The fans and pit spectators enjoyed watching the events and Gerry would like to thank everyone for their cooperation in getting your portion of the program done in remarkable time.

KUTZTOWN BUMPS PURSE & ADDS MARKETING PARTNERS FOR 2011 SEASON,

KUTZTOWN ADDS A JUNIOR SHOW....

Issue #44

Myerstown, Pa., April 14th, 2011:  With the 2011 racing season less than four weeks away, Kutztown Fair Speedway race organizers Kerry Meitzler and Janelle Stump continue to iron out a few remaining details and release some big news regarding the Wednesday night events at the one-fifth mile oval. The May 11 opener will again be a tribute to the matriarch of the Meitzler family, as the Goldie Meitzler Memorial Race is presented for the 270cc Micro-Sprints, the wingless 600cc Micros, All Star Slingshots, and the Xcel Sportsman Modifieds. Gates will open at 4 p.m. with warm-ups getting underway at 6:30 and the first heat race of the new campaign gets the green flag at 7:00.

Meitzler and Stump are enticing the race teams to encourage other racers to enter the events at the Fairgrounds this year, as the weekly purse will increase - significantly - as the car count rises in each division. And the payoff will not just jump for the feature winner or those who finish in the top three, but it will grow for positions one through eighteen if the number of entries (per class) exceeds 25. The purse increases even more if the car count reaches 36 or more in any of the four weekly classes. The promotional team at Kutztown has also signed up an array of marketing partners, and they continue to seek additional partners to support the Wild Wednesday events at the Fairgrounds, as well as the popular Kutztown Fair Week Races set for Tuesday through Thursday, August 16-18.

WIX Filters 100 Nights of Racing will make the Kutztown Fair Speedway one of its 100 special events this season by sponsoring the races on June 1st. WIX Filters Racing prizes and giveaways for both racers and fans will highlight the program on Wednesday, June 1st. RockAuto.com, an online auto parts business based in Wisconsin, will be an associate marketing partner at the Berks County oval in 2011. RockAuto.com wristbands will be wrapped around the wrists of everyone entering the Fairgrounds' pit area this year.

Following the Goldie Meitzler Memorial Race that kicks off the new season, the Racers Roundtable Radio Show will sponsor the second event on May 18. The show's originator and one of its hosts, Pete Knappenberger, is set to compete in the All Star Slingshot class this year and will certainly provide all sorts of entertainment as Racers Roundtable takes over the May 18 program at Kutztown. On May 25th,the Mike O'Pake Memorial will be held for the All Star Slingshots as this will be the 1st of 2 MA Silver Tour races run at Kutztown. On the Tuesday August 16th night card at the annual Kutztown Fair will be the final point race of the season for the All Star Slingshots, along with the Kutztown Challenge. The Challenge is a series of one-on-one match races for the top ten drivers in the track's Slingshot point standings, and it will be sponsored by RPM New & Used Slinger Parts. The week long racing at Kutztown will be in memory of long time racing photographer ,Bill Hess.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for both weekly races and the Fair Week events. For additional information on marketing partnership opportunities at Kutztown Fair Speedway, contact Kerry Meitzler at 610-683-8234 or Janelle Stump at racektown@aol.com. To learn more about the Kutztown Fair Speedway and its events, log on to www.kutztownfairspeedway.com. There is nothing in direct competition with Kutztown on a Wednesday night in the area. Accord will also be holding their Midweek Thunder Series on Weds. so it looks like there are choices for many teams other than weekend racing. No matter what night it is, please support your weekly speedway and tour races when at all possible.

Lindas Speedway will be holding the 1st area MA Tour race on April 22nd with many teams circling that date to get things going. Andy Smith made a tour of Hamlin Speedway on Monday and is hoping the weather forecast is wrong for the weekend as his crew put some long hours in to make sure the track lighting and concession stand was in working order as well as preparing a speedway surface. Special thanks to racersroundtable.com and RPM Used Slinger Parts for coming onboard for season # 2 as a Kutztown race sponsor. Slinger Warehouse is also working with Lindas and Shellhammers for a mini-series at these 2 speedways.

Northeast Slingshot head honcho Bob Hentschel has really taken the area by storm. He is ordering an inventory of parts for the racers in the OVDT and Accord area. Bob is also working closely with Rich in helping everyone with chassis setups and engine help. Please check with Bob at the tracks if parts or help is required. I was invited to Accord Speedway by promoter Gary Palmer and if plans hold out I will be there for a Midweek Thunder event or 2. Action Engineering head Cole Queensland will be soon receiving an order of DURO tires and Bilstein Shocks. Cole is preparing for the Button Buck season. As soon as I get the definite Great Lakes schedule, I will make sure everyone knows. I was asked to make an appearance at Deer Creek (Button Buck) and I'm doing my best to pencil in a date.

John Diotte has really turned things around at OVDT in Cuddebackville, NY and with many younger drivers in that area running at Accord, OVDT would make a great second track to get seat time. Snydersville is still planning on presenting racing this Friday night, weather permitting. This tricky track really requires a demanding chassis set-up.

Shellhammers Speedway got their races in on Saturday and it looks like some new faces emerged in the top 3 as Alex Schoffstall who has been fast on many occasions kept Lady Luck on his side for the opening night win.

Here is a chance to be seen during the Kutztown Fair Week as race director Janelle Stump just informed me that the Junior Slingshots will be part of the August 17th racing program. If it is well supported, it could mean bigger things returning to Kutztown in 2012. If there is a lack of support, we can still count on the Junior National, but they would like the Juniors back for this Fair Race evening with a regular program set up for us with the other classes being run. It will be added to the website schedule very shortly. Please mark August 17th on your calendar for this added event. Junior ages range from 8 to 15.One barrel carb and a weight limit of 685.

Myerstown, Pa., April 12th, 2011:  Brenda Cordier has now included the Junior racers as part of the 2nd Annual Spring Spectacular at Shellhammers Speedway. All Junior rules will be in effect. Ages for the Juniors will be along the same lines as the weekly tracks with most being 8-15.If there is a driver under the age of 8,please let us know ahead of time. One race per event is still in effect, you cannot run the Junior race and All Star race in the same day.

WEEKEND GETS SOME RACING IN, SLINGSHOTS 4 SALE....

Issue #42

Myerstown, Pa., April 11th, 2011:  Dylan Martin of Stroudsburg, PA collected over $175 after leading all 30-laps to win the Saturday Night Shootout for the Junior Slingshots at Greenwood Valley Action Tracks in Orangeville, PA.

Martin started from the pole position with Eddie Strada of Lake Ariel, PA chasing close behind and waiting for a possible opening to get around. Alex Shaffer of Gillett, PA started 5th and managed to clear Danny Buccafusca of Rockaway, NJ and Zack Weisenfluh of Mt. Cobb, PA on lap 5.

The caution came out twice in the feature event, once when Tommy Zwart of Pine Bush, NY and Chris Kurtz of East Stroudsburg, PA made contact in turn 2 and spun. Buccafusca spun on the back straight while running in the 4th position and brought out the caution on lap 16.

Buccafusca would be forced to restart in the rear of the field following his spin and had to charge his way back to the front. When the race went back to green status, Martin continued to maintain a half a car length advantage on Strada and Shaffer.

Martin would collect the $175 for the win with Eddie Strada, Alex Shaffer, Tyler Johnston and Danny Buccafusca completing the top 5 finishers. As the white flag was displayed Buccafusca had charged back to the 6th position and coming to the checkered dove under Weisenfluh to take the 5th position.

Brock Moore Motorsports Media would like to extend a Special Thanks to Gerry, Cindy and Tiffany Creveling of Greenwood Valley Action Tracks for allowing us to hold the Saturday Night Shootout at their facility.

Ron Hills and The Race Report was on hand to capture all the exciting racing action on video. The Saturday Night Shootout will be released on DVD and sold for $15.00 on www.theracereport.tv or by calling 1-866-RACE680.

PRICE GUIDE TALK, SNYDERSVILLE, OUTLAW SERIES UPDATE,

POSSIBLE SELINSGROVE DATE....

Issue #41

Myerstown, Pa., April 8th, 2011:  I hope everyone got a chance to print out the recent Price Guide and I will try to keep up to date with them every 15th of the month. Use of the price guide is basically self explanatory with the item #,description and price. While on the subject, Speedway Entertainment as well as all the of dealers are asked to sell the parts at the same price as what is listed on the price list, this insures that a race team in New York will be paying the same price as a team at Button Buck or a team in Florida. The dealership is there to insure that race teams will have required parts or advice on what is needed to make the next event on their racing schedule.

Our dealerships are not to be acting like used car dealers when one tries to lower the prices to outsell the other, this was the reason for the price guide being sent out for all to copy. I'm hoping that you are not calling around to get a better price, because your regular dealer is going by the price guide. We do not control shipping costs, other than our own and like I had stated before, we add up to $4.00 for the time and materials used for shipping items to everyone. I'm hoping everyone has found their parts dealer to be fair and available when called upon for parts and service. With the amount of racing already fallen to weather, I know everyone is chomping at the bit to do some racing.

To answer a few questions regarding Snydersville.6 of the 2011 registrations were returned with Snydersville listed as their home track. Whether or not they become regulars remains to be seen, but I'm trying to help clarify why I listed Snydersville in my emails earlier this week.

Pete Knappenberger and the Outlaw Slinger Series will look to make the next trip to Grandview on May 1st even better than last weeks event. If we go by a maximum time for all qualifiers and cut back the laps like planned, Kenny and Joe would agree for us to be done by the time Enduro racing is to begin. I know that was the plan for last week, but the amount of cars created a consi and if we can plan for that within our program, the smooth track like everyone had for the heat qualifiers will be there for the entire Slingshot program.

Many of you have expressed interest in having a big money race at Selinsgrove Raceway Park. Charlie Paige likes the Slingshots and had wanted us every week that Lindas wasn't running. Many of you liked the idea as much as I did ,but traveling time and work hours seemed to have put that idea aside. If I can get an added date for a big money event, how many of you would be willing to enter. If I can get 30 solid entries, I will do what I can to make this happen. There will be no points, just a race for money, nothing as big as Shellhammers 2000 to win Spring Spectacular or The Hamlin Hundred at Hamlin, but something along the lines of 600 to win and a fair payout for midpack finishers. Entry cost would be higher for this event. Think about it and let me know. I'm not making a cent doing this, just trying to get some added dollars to race teams.

GRANDVIEW OSS UPDATES, APRIL RACERS SPECIAL,

INFORMATION ON MANY TRACKS REGARDING WEATHER....

Issue #39

Myerstown, Pa., April 5th, 2011:  Just had a nice conversation with Pete Knappenberger and already a few changes will be taking place starting with the May 1st OSS race. Payout will be raised to 500 to win based on car entries, currently at 30 cars. All heat winners will get $20 from Urge2Tattoo in Gilbertsville. You can bring your own food and drinks into Grandview, but NO GLASS CONTAINERS. A few of you wanted to know where the used oil goes, they at one time had a recycle drum. I will look into that for the next race.

Qualifiers will be reduced to 6 laps from 8,consi down to 8 from 10 and A Main from 20 to 15 and to think there will be a payout increase with less laps run. Pete is meeting with Neets Joe and Kenny Rogers to work out an arrangement for all Slingshot races to be run before any Enduro gets a green flag. Insurance restrictions are what dictates the age limit and track management wants to thank all the 14 year old drivers that showed their talent in wheeling a race car on a big track. Everyone is invited back for May 1st. The complete points rundown can be seen on racersroundtable.com.

For everyone that has already taken advantage of our April Racers Special and ordering the coil over springs, YOU CAN Mix & Match and I will make sure to identify the springs if requested. One has 1 less loop, one is thicker, so if you need me to identify them, please make the request in your email or phone order.

Weather conditions could be an issue again this weekend. Quite a few tracks made their announcements on Thursday the last 2 weeks. All I can say is if I know, you will know.

Randy Smith called me yesterday and was heading back to Hamlin to see what is needed for this weekend so please check out the Hamlin Speedway website if questionable.

Mike Batz and Tom Chorpenning try to keep the Lindas faithful up to date with the use of the traffic light on the Lindas website. Ifs green they are planning on racing, if it's red, they are saving you a wasted trip.

Borgers Speedway had quite a bit of rain rundown from the grandstand hill to the speedway. Steve and Rich are trying to make the most of this situation and working to get the 1/7th mile in racing shape.

Billy Maynard at Wyalusing is chomping at the bit to get green flag racing at the Wysox, PA oval. Caroga Creek was in a slightly different situation, their precipitation was in white flake form and a temperature break would surely make the Ephratah, NY track operators a little happier. The Diottes at Oakland Valley cannot buy a break from Mother Nature as the Cuddebackville, NY speed plant is awaiting a dry spell.

Dave Cordier's banked Shellhammers Speedway drains very well, but it drains to the inside berm and the expertise of the Cordiers in track prep will win this battle in the end.

The folks at Snydersville try their best to soldier on in any weather conditions. With the redone speedway getting noticed, a few of the tried and true Slingshot veterans are planning a possible return to the tricky little raceway.

Speedway operations are a business, just like McDonald's and Wal Mart so losing money is not what they are hoping to do, but they want the safest track conditions for both the racers and the fans, so please bear with them and give them the support they truly deserve.

I'll be sending out the inspection stickers this week, hopefully they will make it to your doorstep instead of a storage bin like the group that finally got delivered in the Middletown, NY area.

Rich would like everyone to know that the Big Kahuna 5 Race Series at New Egypt will be paying the SpeedSTR winner $2000. Some rentals are still available by calling Rich. Also anyone that does Enduro racing or helps an Enduro racer ,they are part of the New Egypt plans as well.

Later in the season, I will be asking everyone to give me a yes or no for the Fall Jamboree Slingshot race at New Egypt. The payout will be based on car entry, but added money will be a part of the purse. The track is slightly bigger than Grandview but not banked. If you can get around Grandview, you will be a step ahead of everyone else.

Randy Smith contacted me and said the wet grounds and his inability to get any track prep done due to the saturation of the speedway has forced him to cancel the Bug Day planned for this weekend. Opening Day will go off as planned, weather permitting with All Stars, Juniors and Supers on the weekly docket. For some of you new to the Slingshots, Hamlin pays a top of the line payout and also has some of the best track concessions at any speedway in the US today.

Rick Allen emailed me to let me know that the track is currently submerged in water and snow is still seen in many pit spots, so Caroga Creek has pushed back their race plans another week.

Accord Speedway promoter Gary Palmer has been getting requests from many of the locals that he should be expecting the largest car counts in the brief history of weekly racing at the NY oval. Junior entries last year averaged 14 cars and it was by this increase that Gary decided to put the Junior National in front of the masses as part of the King of the Catskills weekend. Since my Friday night racing schedule has vastly opened up, I might consider a Weds. night stop at Accord, Friday night stop there for the ever exciting modifieds and a double header heading back to Reading at Oakland Valley and Hamlin.

GRANDVIEW OSS RACE THANK YOU,

PLUS THE WEEKEND REPORT .....

Issue #38

Myerstown, Pa., April 4th, 2011:  Joe Cutri, Pete Knappenberger and Kenny Rogers want to thank everyone for the successful OSS event at Grandview. The car count of 31 altered the race plans for the day and the plans for the May event will be tweaked a little more. A tentative change to a 15 lap feature looks to be in the works. With only 1 yellow during the qualifiers, we completed 3- 8 lap heats in less than 25 minutes.

It was suggested that if a consi is needed again, that the Vintage Racers might be the next class out after the Small Car Enduro to put some rubber on the speedway and smooth out the racing surface. Lap times of mid 19 seconds were being run during the 20 lap A Main.

Simon Egan was the class of the field as he took the S&S House car to victory lane with Travis Gruber getting the runner-up spot and Jason Harmon notching a strong 3rd.Alex Schoffstall advanced 4 spots from his 8th starting spot to finish 4th and the hot pink 23 of Shannon Smith did some wheeling and dealing to finish 5th after starting 19th. With an entry of over 30 cars, the payout was increased with all feature starters getting a payout. OSS founder Pete Knappenberger has added quite a few extras to the faithful followers of the mini-series as a point fund and RPM Cup will await the season ending top runners. The Freedom 26 is being planned right now with a 500 to win paycheck.

I saw some new faces in the Grandview pit area and hopefully will continue to see more as the season progresses. I got a few emails and calls from some teams that weren't quite ready and hope to make the next race in May. I want to thank everyone from the pit crew member to the track officials for keeping the show moving along and giving the fans a chance to see what small cars can do on a bigger track. The 5 wide racing at the start of the consi had the fans buzzing.

Gary Silverman Productions has the racing action in the books as he video'd all the racing action Sunday at Grandview. His website is gspvideo.com

Lindas Speedway will be race ready for their 2011 opener this coming Friday as many of the local tracks will be awaiting some great weather to get the season started. Borgers and Shellhammers will be awaiting their season openers as well. Greenwood Valley will be hosting the Junior racers on Saturday night. Oakland Valley, Caroga Creek, Wyalusing Valley and Snydersville have the Slingshots on the schedule awaiting some track time.

Brenda Cordier is accepting entries for the 2nd Annual Spring Spectacular which will pay $2000 to win and have a total purse of over $5000.The Shellhammers Speedway will see this event taking place on May 29th with a May 30th raindate. Ricky Yetter will be out to defend his title as this could be his first race of the 2011 season as he is currently focusing his efforts on an Easton area political election. If you are in his district, please think about giving Ricky your support and vote.

Kutztown Fair Speedway will see their gates open for racing on May 11th, with the MA Tour slated for May 25th being the Mike O'Pake Memorial in tribute to the late State Senator who did a lot to keep racing going in the local loop with his support of the New Reading Fairgrounds and a few visits to Kutztown Fair Speedway.

The Linda’s Speedway management has pulled the plug on their season opener scheduled for Friday, April 1 due to wet grounds and continued cold temperatures. The season opener will now move to Friday, April 8 with a four division show of 270cc Micro Sprints, Tobias Slingshots, 600 Modified and the 600cc Micro Sprints in the first Pro Series tour event of 2011.Gates will open at 5:30 with a drivers meeting at 6:45 followed by hot laps at 7:00 and racing at 7:30. Adult admission remains at just $6 for the 2011 season with children age 6-12 $3.

I will be here late tonight (7 PM'ish), so if anyone needs anything I'll be here until then. With more than I have time for tomorrow, I cannot be here, so I'll try to give everyone some time after work to pick up, drop off or buy tonight.

With many new teams heading into the Slingshot Class this year, please try to help them if asked. I'm not saying give all your chassis set-up secrets or best lines around the speedways, but try to help out the best you can. Remember these drivers could be in your next race and the best way to race with them is knowing they know what they are doing on the track.

Quite a few website emails regarding the Dirt Knights broadcast of a few weeks ago and special thanks to Jon Koster and the management of Button Buck and Deer Creek Speedway. The Slingshot portion of the broadcast had many people visiting the website with quite a few questions being raised and answered by Rich. Also great to see that former Great Lakes Champion Lucas Schott took a top 10 finish in the mod main with Action Engineering head Mike Sorensen grabbing the checkered. Cole Queensland at Action Engineering is doing a great job of keeping a tire and parts inventory for all the MN and IA racers.

Just got a request for Slingshot info from a group in North Dakota. The popularity of this racing class is continuously spreading and be thankful for the tracks that give the Slingshots a great place to race and the support of the race teams.

Brenda Cordier informed me that the Juniors are invited to run as a class of their own at Shellhammers in 2011.The Junior National at Shellies will have a full field payout for the June 11th event.

Greenwood Valley will be hosting the Juniors on April 9th with a minimum of $175 to win and a starting field of 16.GVAT is similar to Kutztown with more corner radius. All rules will be in effect and scaling after each event is mandatory.

Randy Smith and crew headed to Hamlin on Thursday to get the 1/5 mile Hamlin Speedway ready for a full season of high speed, wheel to wheel action. As Randy calmly puts it, "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet!!!" as an aggressive schedule awaits all 3 Slingshot Classes at Hamlin.

Shocks, front shock mounts are in stock. Coilover cones will be back in stock the middle of next week. We do have the Bilstein shock collars in stock and I'm putting another order in on Monday. Shock covers are in stock.60# springs have arrived so we now have the full array of 60,80 and 100 in stock.

We will be getting a new supplier of white clutch springs. These will have slightly more tension than the red springs.

Current sheet metal orders are being done in quick order. For body orders with multiple colors, it usually takes an extra day for cutting and bending. Some colors do not come 2 sided anymore. There are some blues and yellows that must be special ordered if you want the same color on both sides.

A quick note for the Grandview racers. Please make sure your engines are up to operating temps on Sunday. Do not head onto the speedway with a cold engine. Local laws in Bechtelsville forbid any cars on the speedway until noon on a Sunday. We will abide by that and as soon as noon time comes, be ready for track time.

Front Shock mounts are also currently in stock.

Borger's Practice Postponed

No April Fools Borgers Practice Postponed. Practice scheduled for this weekend April 2 and 3 at Borgers Speedway has been postponed due to the winter storm warning that has been issued for the Saylorsburg area.  The National Weather Service is predicting up to a foot of snow starting tonight and continuing into Friday. Practice will be held next weekend Saturday April 9, and Sunday April 10  starting at 12:00 noon.  The season opener will be moved back to Friday April 15, and Saturday April 16. Promoters Steve Heckman and Rich Raidline shared the feelings “the track has already taken on too much water from the previous storm and there is no use in prolonging the inevitable.”  The snow has been cleared from the track and  pit area but the grandstands are still covered as well as the spectator parking area. For the latest information check the brand new Borgers Speedway web-site.  www.borgers-speedway.com

OWNERS PACKETS, BILSTEIN SHOCKS, ENGINE WORKLOAD,

GRANDVIEW, PARADISE, PENN CAN.....

Issue #35

Myerstown, Pa., March 30th, 2011:  All owners packets, other than the registrations I received since last Wednesday were mailed out no later than March 11th.
It seems many of the not received area is based around the Middletown, NY area.

I cannot keep mailing them out and then find out the Post Office had them in a bin somewhere or they had other problems. If you have a problem at a track, have them check the website driver roster. That is right up to date as of 10 PM last night. Please keep me updated. I want to make sure that all registered teams do not have a problem at any track attended.

Shipping conformation for the Bilsteins was just taken by me. They are expected to arrive here between noon and 2 PM. I will be putting another order in for shocks as soon as these are received. I'm also putting another coil over kit order in today and the front shock mounts were also being finished. Current weather forecast for the weekend in this area looks favorable for Saturday and Sunday.

Increasing engine workload has pushed back finishing times for recent incoming engines. Please do not email or call everyday. I will try to give progress reports as noted.
Sorry I do not have anything regarding the 2011 Borgers schedule. Heckman and Raidline are currently trying to finalize their plans at the Saylorsburg, PA oval.

For anyone asking about Grandview gearing, from the last race there a few years ago to the practice session on Saturday, gears used ranged from a 49 to a 53.The track is a high banked 1/3 mile. I believe that a parent or guardian will have to sign for the younger drivers. At the present time birth certificates are not being asked for allowance, but please do not try to have a 10 year old pass for 14.If something happens on the track, all could be lost for the remainder of the season regarding the 14 year old minimum.
S&S Speedways will have their full service parts trailer there.

Word from Paradise Speedway is that the track surface was completely redone for 2011.The size of the track will remain the same, but expect a track with added grip. The Geneva, NY oval remains one of the favorites on the All Star National Tour schedule.

Reed Miller has promised the Slingshots a better payout when the Battle by the Border National heads to Penn Can Speedway on September 4th.Reed was impressed with the close, competitive racing the Slingshots showed last year and with the addition of a National tag, it will attract more race teams looking for the big payout and points on the line.

RACE TIME, VARIETY OF RACING NEWS BELOW.....

Issue #34

Myerstown, Pa., March 29th, 2011:  If there is anyone that will be attending the Outlaw Series race at Grandview on Sunday, I will bring your packet along if you did not get it yet. I currently have 1 for Stan Friedman and 1 for Chris Kurtz as well as Jeff Cosgrove. I'm working on the newly received ones now.

I will also have the hats along to give to everyone that got the package but no hat. I tried to keep a list, so it will make things easier. Come up to me if you didn't get one. I handed them out at the Borgers and Hamlin meetings.

I can also bring the Inspection decals for anyone recently inspected that will be attending Grandview. Inspections can be done at Grandview on Sunday. The inspection deadline is June 15th.

Any driver that is running the Junior National Tour, but is 14 and would like to run at Grandview, you will have to abide by the All Star weight of 775.

Shellhammers currently has a practice day slated for this Saturday with the Racers Clinic rescheduled for this Sunday.
Grandview and Shellhammers are roughly 25 minutes apart.

Caroga Creek will be enforcing all Slingshot Rules again in 2011 and they will accept the red seal and new 1 wire seal as legal engine seals this year. The tricky 3/16th mile in Ephratah, NY has some intense racing weekly.

A new shipment of rear axle collars just arrived, stock up now.

I want everyone to keep Rick Arnold (Brad's dad) in your prayers, Rick was admitted to Reading Hospital on Friday night to the ICU, but through the power of prayer and a great group of doctors has been moved to a regular room. At the same time my mother was admitted after being diagnosed as having a blood clot on her lung. Doctors have also gotten her back to a release date of Thursday.

Got the chance to visit Grandview Speedway on Saturday for a few minutes and had the pleasure of seeing Mike Fogler take his orange #90 around the 1/3rd mile. A rough estimate of lap times found him ranging from the low 19's to the mid 19's depending on racing grooves taken. The racing surface was multi grooved, but that did not stop Mike from trying a middle groove in addition to the bottom. Thanks Mike for your efforts on Saturday.

With weather issues cropping up again this weekend, please check with your speedway to see what their plan of attack is or if they will lose to Mother Nature. We do not interfere with any race procedures or cancellations.

Greenwood Valley also had a practice session Saturday and is preparing for the April 9th Junior Showdown with at least 175 to win. The 1/5th mile Orangeville, PA oval will be abuzz with Junior talent all trying to be in victory lane.

The Outlaw Series makes it's inaugural debut at Grandview on Sunday April 3rd.Gates open at 9 AM. Pete Knappenberger will be maintaining a strict schedule due to the completion of our events in time for the advertised Enduro starting time of 2 PM. Currently a 24 car starting field is in place. Drivers meeting will be mandatory. I will have more regarding the Outlaw Series very shortly. 14 year old driver minimum is in place for Grandview.

Currently the same age will be allowed for the Fall Jamboree at New Egypt in November.

Word from Bilstein is that the shock shipment has left the NC compound.

After 4 days away and 2 of them not in the best of spirits, it is good to read a few emails and try to get back on the same page. I have a lot of catching up to do. Bilstein has promised a shipping date of today. Aluminum wheels have come in, regulator rebuild kits, shock covers and a full supply of 60# coilover springs have been shipped.

For 2011 the Slingshots will draw for their heat race starting spots. After the heat races a draw will take place to determine how many drivers will invert from the heat race finishes for the feature line up. The Slingshots will also now take the green flag off turn four and feature double file restarts up to a certain number of restarts before going single file. The 2011 season will see the Linda’s Speedway focus on more post race tech than in recent years. Racers be warned!  Many news things are in store for 2011 but one thing that has not changed is the adult grandstand admission as it will remain at just $6 with children age 6-12 $3. That is one great bargain in these days for sure!
For more information on the Linda’s Speedway visit www.lindasspeedway.com or call the speedway office at (717) 865-5330 or Tom Chorpenning at (717) 319-2391.

They do split practice up into groups and there have been small car classes using their practice days for a shakedown. Hope to see a few of you at Grandview and possibly Lindas and Shellhammers this weekend along with the Borgers Speedway opening. When I get the news, I will pass it along. Glad to be back.

ENGINE BUILD UPDATES, CLUTCH CORE SPECIAL, LINDA'S, GREENWOOD VALLEY,

2011 BANQUET, BORGER'S, ACCORD, VARIOUS PARTS DEALERS.....

Issue #32

Myerstown, Pa., March 18th, 2011:  In an effort to keep everyone abreast of the current engine situation, we do NOT put them directly on the teardown table. They are dated when received and worked on as dated. Most of the turnaround time is slated at 13 working days, but the machine shop also has their working schedule and we must abide by that. We realize that racing season is right around the corner and everyone is ready to race, so Ron is doing the best he can to keep up with workload and there are times when Rich will help out. We received 7 engines last Friday, Saturday and Monday so he is getting to them as they came in.

Currently on order are aluminum wheels, coil over kits, fuel pumps, front spindles and breather tanks. I am planning on sending clutch shoe and brake cores out for relining, get them to me for the March Special credit of 8.00 instead of 6.50.

The first tour race is slated for April 22nd at Lindas. The Greenwood Valley Junior Special is still on for April 9th.All Junior teams are invited. This could become a tour race for the 2012 season if successful. Caroga Creek has contacted me regarding the new 1 seal engines and it was told to them that the red seals and gray seals are both still the only legal seals for our engine use.

2011 Awards Banquet has been approved for a Saturday Jan. 7th,2012 date at the AACA Museum. Hopefully everyone that has a banquet ticket will be given full tour availability. They have apologized for the mix-up to some of the guests. I promise to keep the food line moving. Seating arrangements seemed to have worked regarding requested groups together.

Borgers is anticipating a banner season in 2011, Steve and Rich are now working with Blake Tobias to keep race teams on top of the events at the Saylorsburg, PA oval with Blake's involvement with the borgers-speedway.com website.

A call from Accord promoter Gary Palmer on Weds has him very excited about the upcoming Slingshot season with many Junior teams personally calling Gary regarding interest in their Weds evening racing. The change of dates for the Junior National to coincide with the King of the Catskills has really been a positive. The All Star racers will also be very prominent during the season with their Empire Region race slated for July 13th.

The WVMP teams can rely on Billy Maynard's dedication to his race teams and his understanding of the Slingshots as he services his locals and also willing to reach out to other race teams with a solid parts inventory. Billy also has the Graphics by Billy business going for anyone that needs names, numbers and sponsor logos put on your race car.

Pete Knappenberger's RPM parts gets some of the used equipment out to race teams, that don't want to buy new, but still have a dependable part to use. Pete also is a satellite dealer for S&S and can be contacted at racersroundtable.com.

I had a few responses to the Shellhammers Driver Clinic on the 27th.It is FREE and if you have any questions regarding directions, equipment needed and general overall info, please contact Brenda Cordier at msgokart1@aol.com. She will be more than happy to assist you. Also the Shellhammers Spring Spectacular is the 1st Super National for 2011,Brenda is taking entries for this event. It is a stand alone Slingshot race, no other classes will be on the grounds that day, May 29th with a May 30th rain date.

Slingshots have been included in the Fall Jamboree at New Egypt Speedway on November 5th.The success of this race could be a positive for added events there in 2012. Hamlin Speedway has a great new poster schedule out, anyone interested in racing there as a part timer or weekly competitor might want one for event scheduling.

Special thanks to Koster Family at Button Buck Speedway for the great video of their sons involvement is Slingshot racing. Here is the link to watch it firsthand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P95WBBSEWNs

PJKNAP Productions is anticipating a stellar field of Slingshots for the first ever Outlaw Series Slingshot event at Grandview. The first ever Slingshot race run at Grandview in 2007 was won by 2011 Herr's Snack Bowl winner Mike Butler. Maybe the red 4 will be out to repeat his title???????

All the owner's packets that I have registrations for will be sent out today. Everyone should have them by the end of the week. If your name isn't on the driver roster page on the website, I do not have a registration from you. I along with a few others will be randomly checking for the stickers in the 1st few weeks of racing. I will repeat, the registration is for more than tour racers. As seen from the banquet and some track point funds, 80% of the registration money is given back in some shape or form, whether it be a race sponsorship, special awards or actual point fund money. The other 20% basically is my time to help with website news, race travel and point standings as well as all the email updates.

To answer the repeat numbers at races, the closest or the weekly regular will keep their number, the out of state driver or non-regular must add a letter or number, nothing drastic, just makes it so much easier for hand scoring. The white body that was for sale is sold. The # 8 AC and Ft. Wayne car is still up for sale. It will be guaranteed race ready when picked up. Rich will negotiate the $6200 price. Only 2 races run with this car.

TIRES, GRANDVIEW, UPS COSTS, BODIES FOR SALE, SHELLHAMMER'S

AND MUCH MORE RACING INFORMATION.....

Issue #30

Myerstown, Pa., March 14th, 2011:  We currently have 22 Duro 4 ply tires here right now.2 per customer order. Price remains the same at 48.21 each. Contacted Bilstein and they are planning on the next shipment date as being March 24th.Working with Rich on a possible grace period for use if we do not get them in time.

The Outlaw Series at Grandview on April 3rd is a definite go. If anyone wants to watch the 2011 season opener at Grandview on the 2nd and stay over night, it is allowed, but no open fires are permitted and no glass containers in the track and on the grounds.
I have completed all the owner's packets. I have begun mailing the final 40 today. For many of the AC teams that have the registration decal, you are getting the owner's card, other decals and tour schedule.

In my haste to make sure I had all the UPS shipments out the other week, I had forgotten to cancel a 2011 Slingshot body order in all white, less interior, therefore we have a new 2011 body for sale. It is awaiting an owner. The price is 448.00 not mounted. I want everyone to be aware that oversized packages are billed on a weight scale, so a 6 pound package that exceeds the overall size measurements could be billed as a 60 pound item. I'm trying to get everything in the most economical packaging available, but body panels, rear bumpers and other big items will get the price increase. Robbie Flood has a used '08 body for sale, less interior (rear firewall, leg panels and floor pans) in white for 125.00.He is willing to negotiate the price. Easiest contact # is 845-234-2939.

I realize this is quite a distance for many of you, but any help in getting the new and younger drivers supervised track time is of the essence to making them better and more competitive drivers and in the long run possibly saving some equipment along the way. There is definitely more than one positive from this clinic, but one of the major ones is that if your driver can handle their car on this size track, they should be able to run anywhere.

No other track on the Slingshot circuit is sized and banked like Shellhammers, so it would even be advantageous for the crew chief to see what is being presented to the drivers, so you can learn about possible chassis set-ups for your car. I will hopefully be attending to get a first hand look at ways to help racers when on track problems arise since the Grandview Outlaw Series race will be held on a high banked track on April 3rd. Please do not let a FREE opportunity like this pass by. Shellhammers starter Dave Cordier, Jr is an accomplished Super Sportsman and winged sprint car driver, so relaying his racing knowledge to you is a definite plus.

Our annual Racing Clinic is set for Sunday, March 27 from noon to 4:00 pm. This is a FREE clinic and is open to Slingshots as well as go-karts.  We will have a Slingshot on hand and have a separate instructor for the Slingshot portion of the clinic. Please pass this along to anyone looking for the basics.  Participants should bring their own Slingshot to ensure they are comfortable with their equipment.  I've attached a copy of our outline for the day.  If anyone is interested, please have them e-mail me at msgokart1@aol.com so I can add their name to the roster.  A certificate of completion is awarded to each participant. Don't forget, Practice Day is Saturday, March 26 from noon to 5:00 pm.

Thanks,
Brenda Cordier
Shellhammers Speedway

“Safer attitudes develop from EXPERIENCE.”

Goal:                To provide an introduction to racing that is enjoyable, safe, and to teach the basics of fast driving.

Expectation: This one day workshop experience will give the participant the control and confidence to develop/improve their racing skills and the tools needed for a safe and exciting racing experience.

Curriculum:

·        Discussion of safety factors and rules

(rule book pages 8, 12, 13, and 14)

·        Basic familiarization with the kart

(kart/slingshot operation…gas, brake, motor, etc.)

·        Walking the track

(learn race lines, etc.)

·        “Follow-the-leader” track time

(Participants will pair up with an instructor to practice correct driving lines and cornering.)

·        “Familiarization” track time

(Participants are taken on the track, maintaining a slow, constant speed, the group becomes familiar with the kart/slingshot and studies the proper line of driving.  Instructors will teach the group to become comfortable with braking, adjusting to a slightly higher speed, controlling the kart/slingshot with others close by.  Instructors also begin to emphasize staying in correct racing line at higher speeds, points of braking and acceleration, and open passing.)

SATURDAY HOURS, NEW EGYPT, GRANDVIEW, FT. WAYNE,

MARCH PRICE LIST NOW ONLINE BELOW!

Issue #29

Myerstown, Pa., March 11th, 2011:  Someone will be here tomorrow from 9 until noon. I will be heading to the Phillipsburg Mall tomorrow and would like to be there by early afternoon. If anyone wants some small parts delivered, please let me know now. I will not be toting engines back and forth. I will also be finishing up the remaining Owner's Packets, if you are at Phillipsburg and would like them delivered, please let me know.

Rich is planning on having the Slingshots be a part of the Fall Jamboree at New Egypt Speedway on November 5th along with the Legends, micros and SpeedSTR's. I will inquire about an age limit, due to the restrictions at AC if anyone is interested in running there.

Since Pete Knappenberger's little promo at the Hamlin meeting his phone has been ringing off the hook and after having a little chat with him yesterday, we came to the conclusion of more cars, means more money will be firmly in place. The current A Main starting field total will be 24. Pete has secured S&S Speedways to be at the track for all racer's parts needs. Grandview is roughly a 2 hour ride from the Hamlin area, so if any teams are looking to give the high-banked 1/3rd mile a try, please base your travel time from that. You can MapQuest it with your city of departure to Bechtelsville, PA. Since the Enduros will run on a rain soaked speedway, Pete will try to make his weather announcement in enough time to save anyone the harsh reality of travel time and distance if there is rain in the area or prior to race time.

The Slingshot top story on the website has drew quite a response from non Slingshot teams that didn't realize that the Slingshot National Tours were for 2 age groups. Many of the emails were from karting parents looking for a safer form of racing, but still showcasing the driver talents.

The Middletown Race Show is now happening, if in the area, check it out. Dan Culhane wants to thank all teams, families, friends and crew members for making the return to the Lebanon Mall a success.

Had the pleasure of talking some racing with the Ft. Wayne Rumble Series promotion and he is seriously thinking about a return of the Slingshots. The fans left it be known that the Slingers were highly entertaining and put on a very professional show. I discussed the second day down time with Tony and he agreed that something could be done to have us there 1 hour prior to our first appearance on the speedway instead of being there at 11 and not having track time until 3.

For everyone asking about how we reprise items, here is how it is done by us. If an item goes up .47,we raise it .47,not.50,not 1.00,but .47.There are actually some prices that have gone up, but we have left unchanged. The cost of raw materials for the side rails, rear bumpers and chassis have gone up 12% but we have not raised those prices in quite some time and for March it looks like they will remain the same way.

If you take notice there are some prices that we have lowered, we could leave them the same, but we want to make sure that when we get a break ,you get a break. We are now listing out price guide in downloadable format so you can print a copy off and keep it handy, or just save the file to your computer for quick reference. Please note to watch for new pricing lists when they are posted to replace the copy you are currently using. There probably isn't another class in the country today that lowers prices on their price lists, other than when they are having a special and want to unload their inventory.

Many drivers move to other classes because they want to go faster, does this mean, you will have more fun or make more money? That depends on you, but the Slingshots are a class of racing that if you want to run a local track and have a chance of showing a profit at season's end, the Slingshots could quite possibly be the only class of racing right now that can say that. The tour schedule is divided up so that the MA Silver is run on nights other than Saturdays, this will give everyone a chance to run the tour and visit your local Saturday night track. The MA Gold is basically Saturday night tracks for anyone that runs Weds or Fridays and wants to visit new tracks on a Saturday.

With gas prices reaching all time highs, there is a schedule for everyone whether it being the team that stays at Hamlin or Caroga Creek all year, or runs at Kutztown and Shellhammers or a team that just wants to run 15 times a season or a selected tour, the Slingshots have it. The Great Lakes and Florida drivers have Button Buck and selected tracks to race at, so there is something for everyone.

As a well known local modified driver once stated, it gets easier as you move up the ladder, the cars are easier to drive, the money is better, but the pressure, maintenance time and costs are far more than what the rewards could be. When you have mastered driving a Slingshot, you can drive anything, was how it was put.

RULE BOOK CLARIFICATION, HAMLIN NEWS, READING NEWS,

SHELLHAMMER'S NEWS, AND MORE.....

Issue #28

Myerstown, Pa., March 7th, 2011:  Weight: Minimum car weight after race with driver must be 775.All added weight must be bolted to weight tabs and cannot extend past cockpit.120 lb. max.LF wheel weight. On page 5 of the 2011 Slingshot Rule Book you will see the above. The 120 lb. max. LF wheel weight, as of today will be taken out of the Rule Book, this was done for 1 race only, but was not omitted. Sorry, if everyone is scrambling to get a clarification or answer from me. I want to thank everyone that brought this to my attention. I just discussed this with Rich and I have removed it from the page.

Special thanks to everyone that attended the Hamlin 2011 meeting and  to everyone that showed interest in the Grandview Slinger promotion. I got to meet a few of you that only get to read my emails and it is a pleasure putting a face with a voice or an email message. Andy and Denise have put countless hours into making Hamlin a first class facility, please make sure you leave the speedway grounds the way you entered it. A thank you to them for inviting me to attend. Looks like an aggressive schedule for all Slingshot classes at the 1/5 mile oval.

I will try my best to let everyone know if there will be Saturday hours by the end of the day on Thursday. For many of you it is the only time you can get here. With racing season already in the books in this area, I know many teams are getting ready to go racing, so if you have an engine or body pickup or are in the area, I will do what I can to give notice for Sat. hours.

At the recent RFRHS meeting, the Sunday / Monday schedule for the Reading Nostalgia Nationals was approved. I do not have access to what their plans are right now for the Juniors and All Stars, but I do know that anyone attending the Fairgrounds, NOT THE PITS OR AS A DRIVER OR CREW MEMBER, will be admitted free to watch from the grandstands or walk the fair midways.

After looking at the Junior National Tour, I'm hoping for track cooperation for the June 1tth Shellhammers date. The Cordiers are putting up an All Star based payout for the Junior National event and hopefully they will see a good car count. This will be a track that many of you have never encountered. It is a high banked 1/8th and does have passing room, but patience does play a big part of driver success.

Blake Tobias will hook a link up to your name on the driver roster page if you have a website and it doesn't have to be one that BTM created. Blake is a dedicated race fan and would like a chance to create a website for you, but will gladly give you the website link. Take a minute or 2 to give Blake a big thank you for his untiring efforts in putting the Slingshots in front of the racing world for all to see.

Special thanks to Herb Finger who will be putting out Slingshot handouts at the Middletown Race Fest. For anyone in the Middletown, NY area, here is a chance to see some cars before they hit the speedways.

2011 RULE BOOKS, READING RACE DATES.....

Issue #27

Myerstown, Pa., March 3rd, 2011:  The March Special will be an increase in core charge returns for clutch shoes and manual brake shoes. The normal core credit is 6.50 for each clutch shoe core, from now until March 31st it will be $8.00 each. The manual brake shoe core credit will be raised from 5.50 / pair to 7.00 / pair. Manual brake shoe cores only.
There is no limit and all core credits will be applied to your account or a shop credit will be issued.

Hot off the phone lines. Grandview WILL allow 14 year olds to run in the Sunday Outlaw Series. Pete Knappenberger will be attending the Hamlin Rules Meeting on Sunday if anyone would like to discuss this any further. I will be attending and hopefully will have all owner's packets that I have received attending emails from.

Please do not abuse this privilege. Pete has stuck his neck out to allow younger drivers and we really need to be alert in the pit area and professional on the speedway. The success of these events could lead to bigger and better things.

I was asked to help with a possible end of the season race at Stonybrook Speedway with other small car classes, those being, possibly 600 micros and Legends. No date has been discussed, but this 1/4 mile track has a big track feel to it and the proposed race would be held on a Sunday. It is 3 hours from Reading and I will be heading there to meet the track operator in hopes of bringing a Small Car National to the Bedford / Altoona area. Payouts, entries and other incidentals will be discussed. They have a website with a few track photos, Rich was even considering a SpeedSTR race there.

Two former Slingshot racers will be the featured guests on the next Strapped In Racing Show on BCTV. The date is March 23rd with a 9 to 10 PM live broadcast and live streaming on www.bctv.org .Nate Christman, who will be taking his talents to the Grandview High Banks in the Small Block Modified division after some highly successful seasons in the Late Model class and a former Kutztown Slingshot Point Champion. TJ will be showcasing his abilities in the Late Models again this year after a top 10 point finish in 2010 and some great runs in the Legends Class at many area speedways.

2011 RULE BOOKS, READING RACE DATES.....

Issue #26

Myerstown, Pa., March 1st, 2011:  For everyone wondering about the 2011 Rule Books, I had sent an email out letting everyone know that they are available by printing them directly off the website (www.speedwayentertainment.com).There are 2 different programs that they are printable with. I had not received any replies regarding not getting one so I sent owners packets out without them.

My current plans are to attend the Hamlin Rules Meeting, if you would like me to bring your owners packet and your hat I will gladly do so. I will bring some Rule Books for those that cannot print them from the website.

Mike Grim from the RFRHS is meeting with the Fair Board again on Weds night in hopes of finalizing the 2011 Nostalgia National dates. Right now the only suggested change would be moving everything back a day to Sunday / Monday, but the discussion will come to a conclusion Weds. night.

The Coventry Mall Racing Show is still looking for a few cars to be displayed. Since this is in close proximity to Grandview it will give your sponsors some great show time if you are planning on running the Outlaw Series on selected Sunday afternoons.

ONLINE PARTS SHOPPING, JUNIORS, ENGINES, AND MORE.....

Issue #25

Myerstown, Pa., February 25th, 2011:  The first tour adjustment has been finalized with the West End Fair National being moved to Monday August 22nd from Thursday August 25th.Heckman and Raidline will be preparing a track without any of the other auto events such as Figure 8 and Demo Derby so the track surface should be vastly improved and free of body and chassis parts.

Just got off the phone with Reading Fair co-coordinator Mike Grim and there is a chance that the Reading Nostalgia Nationals could be pushed back a day with the Juniors running on Sunday the 7th and the All Stars running on Monday the 8th.This is dependant on the Fair Board and events promoter. With everyone planning vacations and motel reservations, I'm hoping to have an answer by the end of the day.

Accord would like to move their Junior National to the King of the Catskills weekend, which with no rainouts would make this the last Junior National unless a rainout has to be used with the Oakland Valley Dirt Track getting the Novemberfest as the rain make up date. The date would be switched from July 13th to Sept. 24th.This falls into a confliction with the Lindas Speedway Lebanon Valley 50.Lindas has a 12 year old minimum age limit, but many Juniors are still eligible to run. I'm leaving this up to the Junior teams to decide on. Do you want the Junior National date at Accord to remain on Weds. July 13th or become a part of the well attended King of the Catskills weekend (Sept 24th) and forego any Lindas legal driver a chance to participate in this All Star National?

Have not received anything from Button Buck for the Great Lakes Region other than the Hartland National on Sept. 3rd.

I did not want to forget anyone regarding using the internet for Slingshot parts purchases. Pete Knappenberger sells used Slingshot parts online at rpmpartsonline.com.He also is a satellite dealer for S&S with new parts that are not on the website. If you are located closer to Pete than S&S stop in.

Please remember that the Junior Drivers will be part of Saturdays Reading Racing Reunion with driver interviews at 3 PM. I will be overseeing this event with help from Pete Knappenberger and Brett Deyo. A few minutes on the stage letting everyone know your previous racing experiences and where you racing in 2011 and your future plans will be a part of the interviews. Also for everyone having cars entered, they must be removed after mall closing tomorrow night. Brett's estimate for the week has this being the most attended Reading show in the last 8 years. Many fans have witnessed the driver interviews and with the stage now at center count it has made for more visible viewing by the fans that are present.

Rich WILL BE HERE tomorrow from 9 to noon. If you have anything to pick up or need some parts, he will be here.

For everyone that inquired about our freight pricing on the invoices. we add up to $4.00 to cover the cost of it being picked, packed and the cost of boxes and tape. That is relatively cheap compared to many of the freight charges we see from incoming deliveries. We had a freight bill of 58.67 for a 4 pound package from Indiana, so we are doing our best to keep parts costs and freight costs to a minimum.

I'm working on owner's packets. I had to redo my thought process when the hats did not fit into the USPS boxes. If you want your owner's packet mailed and I will ship the hat with a shipment or have them handed out when I get to various tracks let me know. I will keep the list up to date. I have many of the packets done but the USPS did not accept my form of packaging even though it was their own.

Enjoy the weekend, hope to see all the young racers tomorrow and remember there is display space for the 3 day Coventry Mall Race Show which could do wonders to attract sponsors for all teams planning on running the Outlaw Series at Grandview in 2011.Brett Deyo will also be having another week long indoor show at Phillipsburg ,NJ Mall if anyone is interested in setting up there. Dan Culhane's Lebanon Mall Show is always looking for teams to display their race cars.

ONLINE PARTS SHOPPING, JUNIORS, ENGINES, AND MORE.....

Issue #24

Myerstown, Pa., February 24th, 2011:  Brett Deyo has asked me to help with the Junior driver interviews at the Reading Legends Reunion on Saturday at 3 PM. All Junior drivers whether if you have a race car on display or not will be given a chance to be interviewed and tell the race fans of your plans and your racing experiences.
Please try to be there by 2:45 so you can sign in and be a part of this time set aside for the younger racers.

Please clean your engine before sending it for work. Ron needed 45 minutes to clean an engine just to get the valve covers off. We will add a cleaning charge to the invoice if we have to take the additional time to do this. We also have a disassembly discount which was raised from 30 to 50 for anyone that removes the flywheel, manifold, starter and carb and has it to us in short block form.

Thanks to Pete Knappenberger, Brett Deyo and Barry Angstadt for allowing me to have a few minutes to give the fans a chance to discuss Slingshot racing. We are so proud of our racers and it gave me time to tell that to everyone. We would like nothing more than to see someone move up to bigger and faster cars, but we also enjoy the older racer realizing that these cars are real race cars and it gives them a chance to stay competitive and have some fun without selling off the house.

There is always room for improvement and I take each suggestion seriously. I try to keep travel to a minimum if there is back to back tour races. I have no control over track pit pass fees and entry fees. You have to realize that many of our tracks do not draw the thousands of weekly fans such as Grandview, Big Diamond or Accord ,so the promoter must depend on the back gate and entry to make the payouts. There are many classes of racing that do not get a payout and there are classes of racing that cost 3 X's as much as a Slingshot ,but their payout doesn't compare to ours, so in a way be thankful that the track operators give back what they do.

It was brought up to me that a race was scheduled for Shippensburg Speedway on April 30th. I did not make the arrangements, but will look into it and get the info back to you. Hopefully I will be talking racing with the Junior drivers on Saturday afternoon.

With increased demand for Slingshot parts at the touch of a computer mouse, it has created some internet parts outlets for all Slingshot teams.

Randy and Denise Smith has S&S Speedways Online for all their customers to do their parts shopping while drinking your morning coffee. Randy was our first original dealer and continues his vast parts inventory, whether it be at the speedway or now online. The website is shop.ssspeedways.com.

Paul Lotier,Jr. Slinger Warehouse is also online and can help with parts ordering at slingerwarehouse.com. Paul's website has a photo display with the part #. Paul will be setting up at Lindas and Shellhammers in 2011.

Parts are still available from us at Speedway Ent. if it makes things easier for any of you. We are in the process of another parts order to keep what is needed in stock.

Mark Clauss at Florida Slingshots can still be contacted with his floridaslingshots.com website.

A March 2011 price list will be ready for emailing next Tuesday. All dealers are asked to keep prices the same as ours. We hope whoever you decide to buy your parts from continues giving you the good service that race teams need to get their cars to the speedways each and every weekend.

PLENTY OF RACING NEWS, PLUS BEAD LOCK UPDATE.....

Issue #23

Myerstown, Pa., February 17th, 2011:  I will be attending the 2011 reorganization meeting for Borgers Speedway tomorrow at 1 PM at Wind Gap Fire Hall. I will try to have the owners packets along, so if you are registered and you should be by now, track me down. This meeting isn't just for All Star teams, the Juniors will be a prominent part of Borgers 2011 plans since the cutback of Juniors at Kutztown and the fact that Borgers will be the only Friday night Junior track in this area, with Caroga Creek being the other. Also West End Fair plans will most likely be discussed. This race has become a showplace for the Slingshot talent in front of a large crowd, so hopefully Steve and Rich can give some quick insight into what to expect there in August.

I will gladly bring parts, tires or wheels along if I have room in my car. I will not bring anything back that is oiled up or overly big since I will be heading to the Fairgrounds Square Mall for Reading Legends Week to help with car loading for the vintage cars on Saturday night and will not be coming right back to SE. My day off next week will be Tuesday, so if you call, it might take a while to be answered. Please make sure you are a part of Small Car Night on Tuesday at the Reading show. Driver interviews and a Roundtable discussion will be happening. There are people asking for autographs, so be prepared if asked. This year's Best Appearing Car Awards will be done by a Fan Vote, so now is the time for your family and friends to help out. The Awards Ceremony will be at the BASH on Friday night at Temple Fire Co.

The 2011 Awards Banquet will be held on SATURDAY night, January 7th, 2012 at the AACA Museum. I will be working harder to make sure the food line doesn't back up like this year. I have notified the Museum that the contract called for our tickets to be used as a Museum ticket. There were a few guests that had to be redirected, but hopefully that will not be a problem.

There isn't a racetrack around that would not accept a sponsored night. If you have a business that would like to have it's night at a speedway and reap the advantages of gaining new customers, here is your opportunity. Herr's Snack Foods got plenty of attention and response from fans after their 2 AC Indoor sponsorships, this could be you.

I received a call yesterday changing a scheduled National. The Sept.16th Caroga Creek National has been moved to August 27th as part of their Racing Roundup weekend. Caroga Creek will be open to race on the 26th,if anyone would like to make a 2 day affair at the Ephratah, NY oval.

That's it for now, enjoy President's Day, be safe and make sure you attend the Borgers meeting if any interest in running there or West End. The current schedule calls for the following tour dates at Borgers and West End.7 / 22 MA Silver , 7 / 22 JR National,8 / 25 West End Fair,National,10 / 15 Roy Smith Memorial National

I started doing the owners packets. For everyone that had Borgers listed on your registration as home track, I am hopefully bringing you owner's packets along. I also have the SE hats that will be given to each registered owner. For everyone that notified me of possibly being at the meeting I made packs for you as well. Since 2 of you sent emails saying you could not print the Rule Book from the website, I didn't include any in these packets, but will in the 2 I received. I only got 2 emails for parts delivery, so I'm bringing what was ordered. See everyone tomorrow at 1 PM at the Wind Gap Fire Hall.

PLENTY OF RACING NEWS, PLUS BEAD LOCK UPDATE.....

Issue #22

Myerstown, Pa., February 15th, 2011:  Starting next week RPM Parts will have hours of operation. 4pm-9pm Mon, Tues, Thurs and Sat 10am-1. Our shop number is 610-641-9269 or on line at www.rpmpartsonline.com.

We currently have at SE all the outer panels and hood in white outside, Chevron blue inside, but no inner panels, engine cover, rear deck or trunk. The list price for everything is 365.00 will sell for 300.00.Let me know. If you want the inner panels done, they can be added to the order at the current pricing.

Ricky Yetter wants to thank everyone that supported his Judicial FUNdraiser at S&S on Saturday.

The 2011 Hamlin schedule is ready for everyone planning a season or a race or 2 at the 1/5th mile oval. Many special events planned this year as the Randy Smith prepared speedway will entertain the Juniors, All Stars and Supers. The Supers Class is anyone over the age of 35 with a car weight exceeding 800 pounds.

Button Buck will be releasing their Great Lakes and National schedule very shortly. Special thanks to Cole Queensland at Action Engineering for his 100% track registration effort. Action Engineering is the authorized Slingshot dealer for Button Buck Speedway and anyone else and is located in Rochester ,MN.

Herb Finger was the first to respond to my call for race team info and photos and his team plans are located on the Side Bites section of the SE website. The more people your race team is seen by the better your marketing and sponsorship plans will be to attract added funds for your racing efforts.

Please be ready when called upon to move into the Reading Legends Reunion on Sunday morning. Brett Deyo asked me to help with the move-in efforts and I will be there at 6:30 AM with move-in slated for 7:30 AM. A word of advice, steering wheels seem to be the hot item for the mall thieves, once you are officially in your spot, I recommend taking your steering wheel with you when you leave.

Had a little chat with Janelle from Kutztown and as much as she wanted to include the Juniors for a few more races, we would need more support from the Junior teams for this to happen in 2011.Last year I got about 18 to 22 I'll be there's and when it was finally said and done we had 11 that dwindled down to 5.

All Junior teams can run any All Star event unless there is a Junior scheduled with it, then the Junior can only run one of the scheduled events. I have received a few emails about Juniors entering the Spring Spectacular at Shellhammer's and a Junior can enter and race without losing Junior eligibility since it is a 1 division show, but choose a division for WVMP, Borgers, Reading or Hamlin when there is a joint tour stop at these speedways.

Billy Maynard has assured me that his payouts at WVMP will continue to be among the best in the area regarding car counts and bonuses. Billy has done a little track rework during the offseason with a definite widening of the turn 3 corner access. Billy also has a car graphics business if anyone is needing some work.

Steve Heckman is also in the midst of doing some graphic designs for a few local racers. If you still need your car lettered talk to him at the Borgers meeting on Saturday afternoon.

I am hoping to have the owners packets along with me during most of the week at Reading. SE will have a display near center court.

The material sent for the bead protectors was not the right thickness and the rescheduled time for delivery will be 2 / 24. I currently have orders for 16 of them. Anyone wanting them raw with no color, please try to get to me by Monday. There are some other colors available, but we have been getting red, black and red. I believe light green, purple, gold and yellow are also in the catalog, but I would need to know before we send out the purchase order how many of each we will need for your orders. Many of the recent orders have been asking for raw so you can get your own colors on them. Sorry about the delay, but we sold 44 right before AC and we were trying to have them ready for the indoor shows.

INCOMING PARTS, GRANDVIEW UPDATES, RACE SHOWS,

SHELLHAMMER'S TO RUN JR. SLINGSHOTS, SLINGSHOT RENTAL IN N.Y.....

Issue #21

Myerstown, Pa., February 14th, 2011:  I'm currently placing an order for front tires, wide and narrow wheels, Carlisle 9.50's, rear axle bearings and 10 ft.chain. Aluminum wheels and coil over kit order was placed on Saturday. We are not planning on being open this Saturday, I will be hopefully attending the Borgers Reorganization meeting at 1 PM. Anyone planning on racing there is asked to attend since most of the previous plans that were made public will be altered. Wind Gap Fire Co. is the site of the meeting. If anyone is interested in the West End Fair plans for 2011,here might be a good time to discuss the popular event.

The Outlaw Series at Grandview is moving along full steam as race promoter Pete Knappenberger is looking to get an age adjustment after receiving quite a few responses for a 14 year old minimum. The entire Slingshot Rule Book will be in effect, if a minimum of 6 races can be run, this can be used for Home track Points. Schedule can be found on racersroundtable.com.

The Sept. 17th Hamlin Junior National is the current closer for the 2011 season, but if we get a show or 2 rained out, I will be asking Oakland Valley Dirt Oval for permission to include their Novemberfest as a Junior National, if needed. The May 14th WVMP Junior National date was moved to June 25th as part of their MA Gold Regional Tour. Hamlin Speedway will be off that night so there is a great opportunity to load up the trailer and visit another track. Shellhammers will run a Junior Class in 2011,but 3 cars are needed to make this work.

Bead protectors have been ordered and I will contact the supplier for a release date. If anyone wants them raw to paint your own colors, please let me know when ordered. When sending in engine work, please have a note on what work is needed or if you would like Ron's assessment of work and parts needed. If I have a 2011 registration from you and your driver is not listed on the website driver roster page, please contact me. I also have not listed a few that were not paid. I f I have a 2011 reg. and it is not paid, the name will not be listed.

Picking up the owners cards today, hats are here and the Bilstein and Dyno Cams decals are in so I will start mailing the owners packets tomorrow. These will be going to the address listed in the owner's side of the form. The Side Bites section on the SE website is back up and running. Thanks to Blake Tobias for working out the kinks after the change of year affected the program.

Still accepting cars for display for Reading Racing Reunion (PA), Phillipsburg (NJ), Coventry Mall (Pottstown, PA) and the Lebanon Valley Race Show in Lebanon ,PA.

It is hard to believe that I have been here since January,2006,but everyone in the Slingshot Family past and present has been the last 5 years, some of the best occupational experiences I have ever had. For some of you that consider me a cold and distant person, I do have days like that, but I try to make sure that everyone is up to date in what is going on whether if you race in Florida, MN or at a nearby track like Hamlin, Kutztown or Lindas.

In order to get your name in front of the racing public, I need team releases and plans, I need track results and race reviews. I will be sending photo to Blake Tobias so we finally get something new on the website. If you have your 2011 racer lettered, send me a photo in an email. I cannot be at 18 tracks at the same time, so your help is needed. I want to take time to extend my sincere apologies to TJ Lilly. When the awards were handed out at the banquet I had to give him another one for the photo due to his name being spelled wrong on the award. The new one is on it's way today. He was the 2010 Junior Champion at Kutztown and is quite a talent behind the wheel.

The Slingshot by Tobias Facebook group is continuing to grow, please become a member, post your photos, your plans for the world to see. Congrats to former Slingshot shoe and crew chief Joe McCardle on a successful 2010-11 high school bowling season. Joe was a member of the Twin Valley High School team this year and he will be vying for Berks County singles honors this week. Good luck Joe. Happy Valentine's Day to everyone, even though I'm not wearing red, it's the thought that counts.

For anyone that has a friend or family member that would like to give Slingshot racing a try and want to run at OVDO or Accord, Bob Hentschel will have a rental available for $275 / nt. It is set-up for a Junior driver, but will make the necessary changes for an All Star event. More details can be discussed with Bob if interested.

Bob has changed the name of the Slingshot dealership to:
Northeast Slingshots
226 Jansen Rd
Pine Bush, NY 12566
# 845-800-7526

Give Bob a call, from the recent driver registrations, Accord and OVDO could become the hotbed of Junior Slingshot racing in 2011.

The Juniors run weekly at Hamlin, Borgers, OVDO, Accord, Caroga Creek, Button Buck and WVMP.

GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY SLINGSHOT RACING ADDRESSED & ANSWERED....

Issue #18

Myerstown, Pa., February 9th, 2011:  A nice civil discussion with Grandview Slingshot promoter Pete Knappenberger, brought out a few loose ends to be worked on.
We discussed pit parking, scheduling of race day events, scaling of cars, possibly reducing the age limit to 14, entering and exiting the speedway, a possible retraction of the tire grooving and the projected payout if a low car count because of weather and the maximum starting feature field.

Pete will be meeting with Grandview Race Organizer Kenny Rogers and NEETS promoter Joe Cutri during the weekend. Fans not wanting to be in the pits can pay at the front gate. Grandview allows outside food and drinks, but no glass containers allowed AT ALL. As soon as I have details set in place, I will let everyone know. Current race schedule is on racersroundtable.com. All Slingshot teams interested might want to listen to Racers Roundtable on Sunday night as more news regarding this race and other Slingshot news will be aired.

For anyone that is not familiar with Grandview it is a 1/3 mile high-banked( I do mean high-banked) clay oval off of Rt 100 in Bechtelsville, PA. They run modifieds and late models on Saturday nights beginning on April 2nd.Some former Slingshot drivers that have been successful at Grandview are Nate Christman, Sean Merkel, Kevin Albert and Billy Pauch, Jr.

The Slingshots had previously raced there in Sept. of 2007 with Mike Butler getting the win. The Enduros starts their 100 lap features at 2 PM, the Slingshots are looking to have their entire program done by the 2 PM Enduro green, but the scheduling will be finalized this weekend. As of now, if you want to run a Slingshot and are lucky enough to have an Enduro ride, there is no one class per day rule in effect. The full details will be sent out on Monday.

I WILL BE HERE ON SATURDAY FROM 8 AM TO NOON. I MUST BE OUT OF HERE BY 12:15 TO RACE AT HIESTER'S HO RACEWAY.

Dirt Devils Speedway will be running the Slingshots on Saturday if anyone is heading south for Daytona or a break from the weather and want to check out the racing at the number 1 small car track in Florida, here is your opportunity.

BORGER'S SPEEDWAY NEWS, AND MUCH MORE....

Issue #17

Myerstown, Pa., February 8th, 2011:  Just had a nice discussion with Rich Raidline, the 2011 Borgers night schedule for all classes will be revised. He is asking that anyone interested in running Borgers at all in 2011 to be in attendance at the re-organizational meeting on Feb.19th at 1 PM in the Wind Gap Fire Hall.

Right now ,everyone knows as much as I do, so please attend the meeting even if you are planning on running occasionally there, it will be in everyone's best interests.

Currently I'm planning on being here Saturday from 8 AM to NOON. If you are planning on heading this way, please give me a head's up. My day off this week will be Friday, but I will check this email address for any and all replies.

2011 Owner's Cards are now on the printer's drying table. I picked up the new hats from Weikel's and Bilstein and Dyno Cams have sent contingency decals so the Owner's Packets are falling into place. It seems my emailing of the 2011 Slingshot Rule Book was a major success, so unless requested, will not be in the owner's packet. An updated tour schedule and track directory are also now ready.

Please remember that the May 14th Junior National at Wyalusing Valley Motorsports Park has been moved to June 25th to coincide with the MA regional. Thanks Billy. He has one of the best payouts in the area, please give WVMP a try if you have a night off or are in the Wysox, NY area.

Dirt Devils Speedway will see the Slingshots in action this week. It will also see the Speedweeks action at Daytona this weekend, so if traveling and want to make a race weekend, here's your early season chance.

YOUNG DRIVER GET SPOTLIGHT....

Issue #16

Myerstown, Pa., February 7th, 2011:  Here is your chance to get the younger drivers some attention during the Reading Racing Reunion. On Saturday (Feb. 26), the 'Next Generation Stars' are saluted at 3 p.m. with go-kart, Quarter Midget and Junior Slingshot talents among those interviewed on stage. The All Stars will have their night on Tuesday as stated in this Brett Deyo release: Reading Plastic Fabricators Small Car Night Tuesday (Feb. 22). This is a prime time to get your sponsors out to the racing world and to a casual shopper walking the mall who might be able to take advantage of the services your sponsor offers.

I will be attending most of the week, if there is anything I can do while I'm out there, let me know. Last year I quick whipped up some photos to be used as handouts and autographs. I have most of the local car photos from Lindas, Kutztown, Shellhammers, Borgers and Paradise if anyone would like to do that for any of these shows. I basically just covered the cost to have them done. There is a major price break with a minimum of 50.If interested and want to see the photos I have of your car let me know.

Former Slingshot driver and 2010 Small Block Modified winner at Big Diamond, Kevin Albert will be a part of the festivities. I'm hoping that the Slingshots will support this both with car displays and by attending the driver nights for the All Stars and Juniors. Hope to see everyone at the Fairgrounds Square Mall sometime during this week. If anyone has any questions or wants to put their car on display get back to me ASAP.

RACERS SPECIAL FOR FEBRUARY, SHOP OVERCROWDED,

COVENTRY MALL SHOW, BANQUET AWARDS, AND MUCH MORE....

Issue #15

Myerstown, Pa., February 3rd, 2011:  The February Racers Special is buy a Crank Support and get the 10 tooth Needle Bearings....FREE.

With the outdoor racing season 7 weeks away, we are trying to make some room for Ron to keep on doing the engine work, so currently we have these engines on the completed list.
Middendorf, Conroy, Zionkowski, Harman, Berlitz, Dave Clark, Ford, Conrad and Shaffer.

We also have bodies and chassis combos to be picked up for Mertz and Raidline.

Registration deadline for car #'s to be saved has passed. I have been updating the website daily as I receive them.

Pete Knappenberger would like me to pass along his RPM business. He sells used parts and also has tear-offs and other driver needs. You can see the contact info at racersroundtable.com.

I will be heading to Providence tomorrow afternoon. The last sheet metal order that was to arrive yesterday was postponed due to the icy road conditions. We currently have 3 people doing the recent body and body piece orders and we are doing them in order as they were received. Body orders for Garcia, and 2 of the 3 ordered by Maynard are done. We have a white body with blue interior for sale. It is just the doors, rear 1/4's and hood. There is nothing done for the inside of the car. If interested, let me know.

There is room for Slingshots at the Coventry Mall Motorsports Show in Pottstown if anyone is interested, please let me know. The show runs from March 4th to March 6th.
Race cars will fill the Coventry Mall again the first weekend in March at the 3rd Annual Coventry Mall Race Car Show. The show runs from Friday, March 4th through Sunday, March 6th.

“The last two years have been outstanding and I hope to continue with the show’s success, said event organizer Scott Hoffmaster. “The mall management was very pleased with the turnout and welcomed us back for 2011 with open arms.”

The show will consist of many different forms of race cars, the Montgomery County Quarter Midget Club, with their track located in nearby Phoenixville, PA, will also play a large roll in the show. Last year the club had close to 40 quarter midgets in the mall.

Currently, the Coventry Mall Race Car Show is seeking a sponsor for the three day event.

With the dates now in place and limited space, Hoffmaster is now accepting entries for the show. The show is unique in that there is no entry fee being charged for those racers wanting to display their race cars. Hoffmaster can be contacted at conventrymallrcs@yahoo.com.

The Coventry Mall is located on Route 724 in Pottstown, PA just a short distance from Grandview Speedway.

I'm trying to get the remaining banquet awards out to everyone. If you know someone heading this way to pick it up, let me know, if you want them shipped, we are doing a flat 9.00 fee.

For as long as the supply lasts all UPS shipments will include a 2011 Briggs & Stratton calendar. There are some Slingshot photos printed.

The contents of the owners packets will be a 2011 Owners Card, 2011 tour schedule, 2011 Registration decal, contingency decals, 2011 Track directory ,a 2011 Inspection Form and a Slingshot hat. I will be picking the hats up tomorrow. I had to redo the owners cards and the change will be made.

The MA / NH racing group would like to see the Slingshots return in 2011 and are hoping a July 23rd  & 24th date will attract some new faces to the New England tracks. The Sunday show will be done with travel plans in mind for all teams. More on this shortly.

We are sending out a request to all speedways to inspect all cars for 2011 registration decals. This is being done to insure that everyone is treated fairly. All cars at AC were registered prior to or during the event. Whether a weekly track racer or a tour racer all cars must be registered. New car purchases from our authorized dealers come with a registration and an inspection for that year.

Brenda Cordier is accepting entries for the Spring Spectacular at Shellhammers on May 29th.This event will carry a Super National point increase and will use a Time Trial / D,C,B Main qualifying format.

ATLANTIC CITY ROUND UP, READING RACING REUNION,

GREENWOOD VALLEY APRIL RACE UPDATE, AND MUCH MORE......

Issue #14

Myerstown, Pa., January 31st, 2011:  I want to thank everyone that attended AC as a driver, owner, crew member or fan. I cannot thank Herr's Snack Foods and Ray Nemeth,Jr enough for what they did to enhance the marketing of the Slingshot race. Snack handouts in the garage, at the track, for Fan Fest and being tossed into the stands, had quite a few fans talking about Herr's during the Friday and Sat. festivities. Thanks again and please support your sponsors.

Congrats to Mike Butler on his Herr's Snack Bowl 25 win. Sounds like his 7th attempt was the charm. Great runs by Tiffany Wambold and Shannon Smith to round out the top 3.

A very smooth start for the Herr's Snack Bowl 25 and I must commend Kurt Bettler and Brandon Azzalina for the even start as the front row hot shoes.

Special thanks to Danny Sammons for allowing me to give some final input for the Last Chance Race, but I didn't have enough to add a 2nd car to the A Main. It was a nice gesture to put everyone into the Last Chance Race instead of sending some drivers home. Mike Glass and Matt Dealaman were the added starters by use of 2010 National Points provisional's and both came home with top 10 finishes. Hard luck for the evening went to Brett Bieber who could not get the Langhorne Motorsports 66 to fire.

After watching this race as a race official, I understand why it is said you can't win the race on the first lap, but you sure can lose it. It seemed to have an effect on all classes, especially in some of the qualifiers. I realize this is racing and you want to move to the front, but for some of the cars that were in qualified spots with one or 2 laps to go, pushing the limits cost quite a few drivers the chance to be in the A Main after qualifying.

To clarify a few things that were asked of me during the weekend. Turn officials could not make any rough riding calls, we could agree or disagree if asked, but the calls were made by Danny, Davey and Warren.

There was talk of going single file after 1/2 way to save equipment, but you all were doing a pretty good job of give and take that Danny decided to stay double file.

Locking in the top 15 from time trials saved some added work, but maybe a less redraw number would greatly enhance the importance of being fast in time trials, maybe having a redraw for the top 5 instead of possibly 10 would be a big plus.

Danny and Lenny were pleased with the Slingshot entry count. They would like me to make an apology on their behalf for the extended breaks to reset the guardrails. This was requested by the Boardwalk Hall authorities to make sure their ice surface would not get damaged. Many race teams did bring their own food and drinks along and I did not hear of any complaints from the Boardwalk Hall staff as long as it was within reason and within your pit areas. There was a complaint lodged against another class for some outside food deliveries, but all in all, it saved many teams some money.

Thanks to everyone that posed for photos, handed out Herr's products and candy, signed autographs and handed out driver cards. It means a lot to the fans of all ages and maybe some of these people could be your next sponsor or new race team. For some of you that lost your shoes due to the sticky racing surface, jokingly, sorry about your luck.

Now for the more. To keep your 2010 car number, I need the 2011 Registrations to me either postmarked or FAX'd by Tuesday morning. I have been a little lax on this in past years, but Rich is asking that this be done, since many indoor racing shows are coming up and many teams are awaiting car graphics. I will be sending the recent batch of entries to the website at 4 PM today. This will be from everyone I have registration for. FAX # is 717-866-7402.I even have been getting them as email attachments, if this is easier for you as well.

I just got an email from Daytona asking SE if we wanted to be part of the Small Business Ticket Discount for the 2011 Daytona 500.Rich said if there is a group that was planning on going and would like to use this program to let me know.

New body orders are now slated for a 4 week finish time. The .040 pistons have arrived and Ron is doing his best to complete all.040 rebuilds as they were received by us.

There is still plenty of space for small cars at the Reading Racing Reunion. Tuesday night, Feb. 23, is set aside to recognize drivers from the Slingshot, Micro-Sprint, and Xcel Modified divisions. The week long show attracts thousands of people to the Fairgrounds Square Mall, so it's great exposure for race teams who display cars at the show. Entry fee is $25. Contact Brett Deyo at BD Motorsports Media to register for the show.

Brock Moore Motorsports Media is pleased to announce that Crawn Logging of LeRaysville, PA has signed on as the Headline Sponsor of the Saturday Night Shootout for the Junior Slingshots.

The heat and consolation races will be 8-laps for the division. Draw for heat-race starting position and Redraw for top heat race finishers for the feature event.

JRS Kart Parts has signed on as the sponsor of the Hard Charger Award. The Hard Charger Award will be given to the driver who gains the most positions in the 30-lap feature event. The winner of this award will receive an IMPACT! Neck Collar.

DC Warehousing and Recycling has come on as the sponsor of the Front Runner Award. The Front Runner Award will be given to the driver who has the best average finish between his heat race and the feature event. The winner of this award will receive a $25.00 Kmart Gift Card.

Jim Young Race Photos will be attending the show and has agreed to do FREE 8x10 photos for the top 5 finishers in the 30-lap feature event. The photos will be mailed following the show. When picking up your payout at the conclusion of the show, the top 5 finishers will be asked to leave a mailing address.

Ron Hills and The Race Report will be on hand to capture all the exciting racing action on video. The Saturday Night Shootout will be released on DVD and sold for $15.00 on www.theracereport.tv or by calling 1-866-RACE680.

Pre-Registration is now open for the Junior Slingshots. If you pre-register before Friday, February 18, 2011 then the cost of entry will be $30.00. Anyone who pre-registers after that date will be charged a $35.00 entry fee.

On Saturday, April 9th - Greenwood Valley Actions Tracks will also be presenting the RTS Chassis 270 Microsprint 10k Challenge and a regular show for all other divisions that compete at the speedway. A reminder that Junior Slingshots are invited to attend Open Practice (Bug Day) on Saturday, March 26, 2011 to get dialed up for this 30-lap thriller.

WEATHER CONDITIONS, SHOP HOURS, A/C TICKETS,

SOME 2011 IMPORTANT RACE DATES SECURED......

Issue #13

Myerstown, Pa., January 26th, 2011: There will only be 2 people in the shop tomorrow and weather permitting, it would be best to call ahead of time.
Currently we have 5 inches of snow at 8:10pm,  and road conditions are not very good, plus the wind has made drifting a big issue.

The shop will be closed completely on Friday with everyone helping in some way at AC.

I have 2 sets of tickets for the weekend. Friday night and Saturday night. I can sell them as a package deal or each night separately. I will gladly meet you at Boardwalk Hall to make the transaction.

Seats are located in turn 2 Sec 108 Row E Seats 1&2 for Fri and 2& 3 for Saturday.
Tickets were $20 each for Friday and $25 each for Sat. They will take $70 for both nights or make offer.

Remember all teams must be registered for AC. I have the roster up to date on the website. There are some owners that have different drivers in their cars for AC, but these were the names listed on the registration forms as drivers or shop cars and rentals.

The Labor Day date at Penn Can has been approved as a National by promoter Reed Miller. All Slingshot rules will be in effect. Juniors are permitted to run in this race, but must be scaled as an All Star at 775 lbs.

February 19th will be a meeting for all participants planning on running any events at Borgers Speedway. Please mark this on your calendar. It will be at 1 PM at the Wind Gap Fire Hall.

The 2011 Hamlin Speedway Schedule has now been released. I handed quite a few out at Motorsports and have some here .If you want one shipped out with a shipment, I can do that or make sure you see Randy or Denise or check out the info on the website. S&S will be the authorized AC dealer and will have schedules along this weekend.

NO FUEL ALLOWED in hauler or car when entering AC. Tanks must be empty at state inspection. Rich will be handling his own inspection during the course of the weekend.

AFCO use for AC can be on all 4 corners. The use of 2 Bilstein's does not take effect until Feb 1st.

News from the Florida area is that the Slingerweeks has been put on hold for 2011.A proper payout could not be reached. There will be racing the weekend of Feb. 26th at Dirt Devils Speedway if anyone is interested in heading down for some early season dirt tracking.

The Shellhammers Spring Spectacular on May 29th has a revised payout and the entry forms are now available from me (by FAX or email) or by seeing Brenda and Dave at the Reading Racing Reunion in February at Fairgrounds Square Mall. The time trial format to lock in A Main cars is becoming popular and will be used again for the 50 lap $2,000 to win event at the Leesport, PA 1/8th mile banked oval.

I have pushed very hard for the continuing of the Junior Nationals for 2011,but it is up to all teams to support this to make it work. The schedule was cut back a race or 2 and I tried to make it on days that will not conflict with too many teams looking for a track championship. A few tracks have contacted me about having no points awarded for the Juniors on their scheduled race nights, to give everyone a chance to visit new speedways and race against other talented young drivers.3 of the 7 races are on a Saturday and I'm hoping that everyone will support these races as much as the midweek and Friday events.

2 THINGS OF INTEREST, ATLANTIC CITY IS STILL EXCEPTING LAST

MINUTE ENTRIES, ST. JUDES CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL DONATION MAILED......

Issue #12

Myerstown, Pa., January 25th, 2011:  2 things of interest for all AC teams.
1.The use of AFCO's all the way around is still legal for AC. You can run Bilstein's or AFCO's ,you can mix and match as well.
2.Any legal Slingshot body is legal. 2002,2005,2005 1/2,2008 and 201 are all AC and Indoor legal.

Please make sure you have up to date safety equipment. This inspection is done by the state. Belts, driving equipment and fuel cell will be checked. Also make sure your hydraulic brake system is not leaking.

Another thought to ponder, the revalving of Bilstein Shocks is NOT allowed. If caught, all points at any track and tour will be taken away, also the shocks will be confiscated under Slingshot Rules.

If you are asked to have a shock check and they do not pass tech or are in question, the track is allowed to take them to be sent back here for further inspection.

Just got a note from Danny, they are still accepting last minute entries for AC.
2 drivers looking for a ride if anyone has any last minute change of plans are 2 former National Champions. Billy VanInwegen, Jr. and Cody Kline would be willing to wheel your Slingshot around AC this weekend. Please let me or them know if you are interested. Danny is very positive regarding our entry status for this year.

I mailed out the Money Order (297.00) to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital with a confirmation code of 55629. It was sent in memory of Caroline and Mattie and was donated by 2010 Slingshot Junior National Champion Tyler Dippel and the Slingshot by Tobias Racing Family.

Thanks to everyone that donated items and purchased Auction tickets.

AC INDOOR TICKETS FOR SALE......

Issue #11

Myerstown, Pa., January 20th, 2011:  The Junior event scheduled for Greenwood Valley on April 9th IS NOT, I repeat, IS NOT a Junior National event. The current payoff is $200 to win with all qualified drivers getting a payout at the Greenwood Valley event.
The 2011 Junior National Schedule is as follows:

May 14 WVMP

June 11 Shellhammers

June 22 Kutztown

July 13 Accord

July 22 Borgers

Aug 8 Reading

Sept 17 Hamlin.

I will include the Junior Class portion of the OVDO Novemberfest if I get enough positive support and response from the current schedule.

The current age for the Juniors is currently staying within the guidelines set at the current Junior weekly tracks. Since most tracks are basing their Junior Class from a minimum of 6 to a maximum of 15 that is what we will use as the guideline for legal Junior National ages. Last year we went by this system and it worked rather well. I realize that people questioning a 9 year old running against a 14 or 15 year old sounds like a disadvantage need only to look at the ages of our Great 8 National drivers last year.

Yes, AC is still a National event, since more than 30 cars are entered, there be NO -2 point deduction for every car under 30.

I will now be here the whole day tomorrow, Rich will be leaving at 10AM.

MOTORSPORTS PICK UP......

Issue #9

Myerstown, Pa., January 18th, 2011:  If there is anyone that would like to pick up their awards at Motorsports or knows of someone that is coming and can take them back, it would be a great help and save added shipping costs.

Since there will be a display there and we will be bringing the hauler back, if you have anything that needs to head back with us, let me know.

I do not have any authority for Weds night parking at AC. Either contact Danny at Motorsports or call AARN to get an answer.

GOOD MONDAY TO EVERYONE......

Issue #8

Myerstown, Pa., January 17th, 2011:  A few things to talk about. First off, Motorsports is quickly approaching and SE will have a display there. I will have along some 2011 tour schedules. Secondly, since I didn't get any return emails, the 2011 Rule Book I sent out after Blake Tobias redid the format was openable and printable. Special thanks to Blake at Blake Tobias Motorsports for really making this idea happen.

Thirdly, both Slingshot champions Shannon Smith and Tyler Dippel will have their Bilstein jacket photos posted on the Bilstein Facebook page. More news. With Motorsports coming this week and AC loading next Thursday, the shop will be closed after 5 PM this Thursday and Thursday and Friday next week. If there is anything you want to pick up at either place, let me know in adequate time. Be on the lookout for some oddball items Rich will be checking at AC. Make sure your fuel cells are empty and do not bring fuel into the Boardwalk garage area. The last 2 years cell foam was not checked or even asked about, but 3 years ago it was, since there was a TQ fire there last year, there is a chance it might be asked about at the state inspection.

I will be making a donation to the Humane Society for 16.00.It doesn't sound like much, but between the pet food and kitty litter needed, it goes along way.

I can't thank all the donators enough and for the second time with Terri and her help, this would never have been as successful as it turned out. A special note from Fred and Debbie Rahmer thanking all the Slingshot teams for making them feel welcome, even though they attended as a SpeedSTR team. Thanks to Sherry Kenderdine for her photo work and Dan Culhane for his photo and writing coverage. Barry Angstadt another gem in AARN, thanks for all you do for the Slingshots.

Weather in this area overnight does not look promising, please be careful on the roads. Hope to see everyone at Motorsports and AC. The 1st National Tour race is only 12 days away.

WE ARE OPEN TOMORROW  1-15-11 FROM 8:30AM UNTIL 12:00PM

Issue #7

Myerstown, Pa., January 14th, 2011:  Due to the response from my email, I will be here on Saturday from 8:30 until noon. I cannot stay past noon. We just got red clutch springs back in stock as well as muffler & collectors. If paying by cash please try to have something close to your invoice total. Wide wheels and aluminum wheels will be here on Tuesday for anyone needing them for AC. Randy Smith will be the authorized Slingshot dealer in AC. and is taking delivery of some aluminum and narrow wheels shortly.

Just a reminder all Slingshot body styles are legal for AC, whether it be an '02,'05,'05 1/2 or an '08. Speedway Ent will also be having a display at Motorsports, I will have along the revised tour schedules and 2011 Order Forms for anyone wanting to pick any of these items up. The 2011 Owners Packet will include a specially designed hat done by Weikel Sportswear. I'm hoping everyone got the 2011 Rule Book in a format that you can open.

ATLANTIC CITY MOTORSPORTS & LINE UP PLANS, READING,

CLUTCH CORE SHOES NEEDED, BOB HENTSCHEL IS A NEW SLINGSHOT DEALER....

Issue #6

Myerstown, Pa., January 11th, 2011:  The idea of having an underage driver at AC is still being looked at with respect to driver ability and past experience. A birth certificate and driver resume' must be presented in hopes the state allows the request to race. The use of the substitute driver is being done. We are hoping that the car of the ineligible driver be used, but if a team car or rental is used, that is also allowable. The points from the substitute driver will go to the other driver with the substitute not getting any points earned. Since AC has over 30 entries there will NOT be a -2 per car reduction.

Billy VanInwegen, Jr. has become available for any team looking to add a driver to their AC entry stable or be used as a substitute driver. Currently Anthony Perrego will drive the Dippel Motorsports entry in AC for Tyler Dippel. Herr's Snack Foods will be a major part of AC Indoor weekend as they will have products available for the pit crews and also will have handouts during the actual racing programs. Please support Herr's at your grocery or convenience store. There is a possibility that we could see more Herr's sponsorship. Remember that it is a 2 way street. they are helping you, in return for a chance to have your business. Thanks to Ray Nemeth,Jr. for making this happen. They are always looking for new sales outlets, if you have one, please see Ray at AC or get back to me and I'll get the info to you.

Here is an email directly from Danny regarding the Herr's Snack Bowl 25 lineup and restart info.

The plan for the Slingshots from time trials is as follows...

1. The fast time driver will draw out of a hat.  He will be draw 6, 8 or 10.

2. Whatever number he draws is the amount of drivers that will then re-draw for starting spots.

So if he picks 10 then the top drivers will re-draw on Saturday.  I think that is as fair as we can get.

We will definitely go single quicker with the Slingshots.  I have not made a final decision on when but I am leaning toward the World of Outlaws restart procedure.  Every restart is double file unless you don't complete a lap from a previous restart.

So basically we will try once and if they crash we go single file until a lap is completed.

Motorsports is right around the corner. There are some tracks looking for cars to be a part of their displays, if you want to show off your car, don't be afraid to contact them. The show will be held in Oaks again this year on the 21,22 & 23rd.

Reading Racing Reunion will once again showcase all racing classes. Speedway Entertainment will have a display and quite possibly Shellhammers. If interested in the Reading show contact Brett Deyo for more details.

The Chinese Auction at the banquet was another success. A $340 contribution to the Sparkman Fund was given to Denise Smith to pass along to the proper channels. The money order to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital is being mailed today in the names of Tyler Dippel and Slingshot by Tobias Racing Family. It could not happen without the donations from the following: Lisa Gray, Dave McCullough, Jill Dippel/ Dippel Motorsports, Cody Kline/NAPA, S&S Speedways, Rich Tobias, Christman Meats, RPM Parts Online, Fulper Racing, Dan Culhane, BAR/ Reading Eagle, Shellhammers Speedway, Kim's Kreations ,Fred Rahmer Racing, Briggs & Stratton and special thanks to Jim Glass' daughter Terri for her help in generating the ticket sales and manning the check-in and door prize table. She brought some sanity to the festivities and she deserves some recognition for her help in making this a huge success.

For some drivers that would like to try the SpeedSTR in 2011,Rich is working on the local and regional schedule and quite possibly be looking for a few of you talented drivers to get behind the wheel as rental drivers. In past years the Slingshot National Champion got the nod for a few events. I believe Rich is continuing that tradition, so you could see Shannon Smith behind the wheel sometime this year.

The owners packets are being worked on. A Slingshot hat will be part of the giveaway this year and we are awaiting approval of the 2011 Registration and Inspection decals. The rule books were resent out in a different format. So far, so good.

I was lucky enough to get a feature win this weekend by winning the PA Tyco Series HO Race in Hamburg on Saturday. Not quite like strapping into a race car, but the concentration level is incredible. Heading around a 30 ft. oval in 1.57 seconds can make an old man like me dizzy, but it was fun.

For anyone that will be heading to your garages to start your rebuilding for the 2011 season and come across clutch shoe cores, we are in need of them for relining.
Beginning on January 17th,clutch shoe cores will be credited to your account at 6.50 per shoe. This includes both the SE clutch shoe and the Noram clutch shoe.
Manual brake shoe cores will also go up to a core credit of $5.50 per pair starting on Monday.
It's a great way to get some money for pieces sitting around the shop.

Pete Miller has a 2005 body he is looking to sell for anyone interested in a quick body for indoor racing season. If interested ,contact me and I'll forward the info.

For the Accord and OVDO racers as well as Caroga Creek and Dodge City, Bob Hentschel has become the authorized dealer for that area and has picked up his first Slingshot. He will be getting a parts inventory list together and will be servicing all race teams at these 2 tracks and with the possibility of also having a few races at Bethel Speedway, this area is now covered. The Caroga and Dodge City teams can still purchase from us or save some shipping rates and travel time by hooking up with Hentschel in the Middletown, NY area. If parts are needed contact Bob and he will do his best to work with all race teams. You can contact Bob at hentschelbob@yahoo.com and begin a working relationship with him.

BANQUET AND MORE....

Issue #5

Myerstown, Pa., January 10th, 2011:  Special thanks to everyone that attended the Awards Banquet last night. We got a great response for AACA and I'm really sorry about the length of the food line. The original plan was for 2 lines, but the table layout was for 2 tables, but only 1 was set up. Hresko's wanted to let everyone know that they had enough food along for 210 servings and sorry for running out of salad.

We hope everyone had a good time and enjoyed walking through the museum. The flashing sign out front looked pretty neat with the champions names and the Speedway Ent. logo flashing out front. The track operators gave a nice little promo slot for their 2011 plans. The Charity Auction raised over 600 with the presentation of 340 to Denise Smith to give to the Sparkman Fund. There will be a donation to St. Judes Children Hospital on behalf of the 2010 Junior National Champion, Tyler Dippel.

The Flea Market attracted many people, but we need as many sellers as buyers. I got 4 calls from sellers that were weather bound. I'm thinking about having it in November next year, but will need vendors to help with sales. In order to keep this going it will need everyone. At one point today I had 37 people here, so the interest is here. Chad Ulrich sold quite a few items and thinks it could be a great end of the season event. Upcoming events for AC and Motorsports as well as the Lebanon Valley Race Show and Reading Racing Reunion.

ATLANTIC CITY NEWS, FT. WAYNE DVD ON SALE 1-12-11,

GREENWOOD VALLEY, JUNIOR NATIONAL TOUR REVISED PAYOUT,

2008 BODY REBATE, DISASSEMBLY DISCOUNT FOR ENGINES RAISED!....

Issue #4

Myerstown, Pa., January 6th, 2011:  Here are the easiest directions I can give. For everyone taking INT 78 & INT 81,take INT 81 S to the Rt 39 Hershey exit (Exit 77)turn left at top of exit, stay on Rt 39 for roughly 6 miles. The Museum is directly on Rt 39.The Museum Rd address is their driveway. You can also use Rt 22 to get to Rt 39.Turn left at that light and stay on Rt 39. I will be there around 11 if anyone is planning on making a tour of the museum and a quick tour of the Hershey Chocolate World which about 2 miles away from the AACA Museum.

Shellhammers Speedway is donating 5 Class Entry Certificates for the Chinese Auction to benefit the Sparkman Fund and St. Jude's Children's Hospital. They are valued at $30 each.

Kim's Kreations is donating 3 certificates for $25.00 off Kim Kreations Lettering. If you want a head start in getting your car's graphics ready for the Indoor Race Shows, here's a great chance to beat the rush.

The current entry list for AC is up to 34.Danny is maxing us out at 42 with 3 alternates in case someone cannot make it. Remember for the age ineligible drivers planning on running the All Star National Championship Tour, we are allowing replacement drivers in the their place. The replacement will not get the points. Billy VanInwegen, Jr. has put his name out as a replacement driver if anyone needs a former National Champion in both of the Tobias Race Series classes to wheel their car.

Cars must be registered for 2011 to be eligible to run AC. Registrations will be taken there on Thursday. The Thursday night practice at Boardwalk Hall has a $50 fee. This can still be purchased at the pit office when you get there.

The Racing into the New Year events at Fort Wayne's DVD of the Slingshot racing action will be available beginning on the 12th.
Tony Barhorst was asking everyone if they would like to run on Thursday and Friday this year to give everyone a chance to make it home for the NYE celebration or if they want another NYE party there.

The Greenwood Valley Action Track Junior Championship slated for April 9th will be using all Junior weight rules and car rules. The current payout could be increased if added sponsors are found. This is NOT a tour race.

For everyone still asking and not believing....there WILL be a 2011 Junior National Tour with the revised season ending payout and bonuses. There still might be a race added for OVDO since their Junior Class is a weekly class. I would have scheduled a Junior National at Selinsgrove Raceway Park, but the last race there only had 3 entries.

WELCOME TO 2011..., A TON OF NEWS IS POSTED BELOW!

Issue #1

Myerstown, Pa., January 3rd, 2011:  First off, a great big thank you for all the Ft. Wayne teams that put on the best race of the weekend. Many of the fans commented to Tony on Saturday night asking about having us back since we put on a great show. I don't know how you guys and gal pulled off 3 four wide moves and continued on, but that was the buzz for the rest of Saturday.20 laps of NON-STOP racing on Saturday is a credit on what can be done, I cannot thank everyone involved enough. Congrats to Anthony Perrego and Brett Bieber on your wins. It sounds like the payoffs were better than expected. Danny, Tyler and Midget, you guys are the future of racing and as an official want to thank you for your efforts and finishing the events.

I want to let everyone that attended and had some questions, comments and complaints, I addressed them with Tony and due to the response from the fans, he wanted to know what could be done to get us back. He will give us heat races like Friday or we can do just time trials and have the top 4 in time pick their starting spot instead of a straight inversion. The top 4 inversion was to be done immediately, so that was why I had it changed when I came down. If it wasn't done before you got to the grid, it was going to be done there. There could be a sponsor for the overall fast time, if we race there again. The question of down time came up from 2007 and this weekend, my reply was we were on the track floor in '07 so there was something to do. He would like everyone there on Friday at the same time, but the Saturday time for the Slingshots will be addressed so we aren't there at 1,but not on the track until 5.

Banquet is coming on Friday night. I'm putting the finishing touches on the guest totals for seating and will have table numbers ready for a Weds group email. The AACA Museum is located on Rt. 39 in Hershey. Hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year. With Brett Bieber winning on Saturday night, he is the first winner for 2011 with Anthony Perrego becoming the fastest car so far this year in setting fast time on Saturday.

Due to some of the younger drivers moving up to the All Stars in 2011,but not age eligible for AC, we are allowing a substitute driver. The driver has to be entered in your car or a registered car from your team. I will be checking the entries prior to the Friday qualifying and if you are part of a registered team, I need to know the driver at this time.
The substitute driver CANNOT collect the National points for the AC race, it will go to the regular driver that was not at age minimum. All points from the substitute driver will be the same as if the younger driver was running him or her self. I will try to have a story about Ft. Wayne on the website tomorrow along with a few photos.
