The Cuddebackville,NY oval known as OVDO will entertain the Weikel Warrior / Empire Region runners for
a 25 lap A Main on the tricky 1/5th mile oval. The touring group lead by Weikel Select select points leader Kyle Hieber
and Weikel Warrior tour leader Matt Carman will have their work cut out for them as they take on the spirited racers of Kayla
Smykla,Fred Cannock,Jason Kosch and the OVDO regulars.Hoping to make some moves to the front will be Kaitie McCardle,"Dyno"
Dave McCullough,Jake Smith,Gary Hieber,Mike Carman and Rob Marino. The Junior National will have some of last years strong
runners in the field as Joseph Kata III looks to repeat his 2007 efforts. With this being the 2nd Junior National of 2008,any
top 5 finish could go far in establishing the 2008 Junior National Champion.
The Hamlin Hundred will see at least 24 cars take the green with nothing less than $1500 to win, providing
a 30 car entry list signs in.The qualifying events on the mini-Bristolike speedplant will take place on Friday night with
the much balleyhooed Hamlin Hundred awaiting the many Slingshot fans on Sat. evening. The cool northern PA nights will be warming
up as the green flag waves bringing on the Slingshots for one of their highest paying events.
Borgers Speedway will have their Indy Special on Saturday and with a Slingshot pit entry of at
least 30 teams ,the payoff for 1st will be a minimum of $400.Recent winners Mike Glass,Matt Dealaman and Stan Friedman have
to be considered favorites with challenges coming from Tiffany Wambold,Kurt Bettler and Danny Lorenzi.
The special events this weekend will give Slingshot racers everywhere a chance to show off in front
of bigger holiday crowds.
Racing Around the Slingshot World
Racing started on Weds night at Accord but some long events in other classes forced the Slingshots to
call it a night after 6 laps.Winning the shortened main was RJ Smykla with Anthony Perrego coming on strong for 2nd.Rounding
out the top 3 was Kayla Smykla.Mikey Horton,Jr. took the first ever Weds. night Junior win.The Mid-Atlantic Tour headed to
Linda's Speedway and taking home lion's share of the money and the 120 tour points was Mike Glass,Giving Mike a run for the
money was regular class rookie Kaitie McCardle in the Marsh Creek Raceway,BTM # 11 with Earlene Bosga back behind the wheel
and not losing an inch to garner a strong showing of 3rd.Snydersville Raceway found new weekly racer Scottie Cox put his 026
into the photo area for his 1st win of 2008.Greg Vreeland had to settle for 2nd with last weeks winner Dillon Emmons getting
3rd.Friday night at Borgers it was Kurt Bettler taking the Bettler Bros 2B to the winners circle with Danny Lorenzi and Jake
Smith rounding out the top 3.Austin Burke drove flawlessly in getting his Junior win.The Caroga Creek faithful saw some wheeling
and dealing and when it was all said and done Mike Scarcella got his 1st win of the season.Francis Oliver got into the mix
with a 2nd and Rick Allen shook off some recent bad luck to get the show money.Down in the Gulf Coast area it was Chris Achenbach
under the checkers first becoming the 7th different winner in this tough area of Slingshot racing.Needing more laps to make
a challenge was "The Roopville Rocket" Shawn Cater who just held off Matt Wyatt for the 2nd spot.It was Twin 15's for the
Borgers Juniors and it ended up being a family affair with Brandon Azzalina winning the 1st 15 as AJ Gerhart looked at ease
coming in at 2nd.Zach Azzalina got to watch the checkers fall from the 3rd slot. The 2nd 15 evened up the family win total
for the night as Zach Azzalina got the awards this time out with Taylor Troxel making the tow from Barto,PA worthwhile for
2nd as Friday's JR. winner Austin Burke loaded up with a fine 3rd.The regular winner was veteran Stan Friedman who had the
1F flying around the tricky oval.Mike Glass could not run with Stan and logged in for the runnerup spot.Matt Dealaman continued
his very steady 2008 season with another top 3 finish.Jim Mahaney used some of his racing knowledge and used a slower car
as a pic to hold off his son Mike enroute to the Paradise Speedway honors. The Oakland Valley Dirt Oval will be hosting a Weikel
Warrior / Empire Region tour this Sat and making some waves as a strong contender for the win was Sat. winner Kayla Smykla.RJ
Smykla called it a night after his 2nd place run with Fred Cannock finding some speed secrets in his quest for a top 3 finish
when the night was over.Joseph Kata III continues to impress with another error free run to the roses.Matt Reiley headed to
the scales after his 2nd place run.Seth Pacella's hard work paid dividends to score in at 3rd.The Rookie class had Michelle
Campbell finding her time behind the wheel another winning one as Kevin Predmore was 1 spot behind her.Down the highway to
Hamlin Speedway another full Slingshot pit area saw some new faces make some challenges but when the racing was over it was
Bill"The Dream" Weaver heading for the # 1 envelope with perennial threat Kyle Rohner finishing 1 spot better than his friend
Ben"Flipper" Whitaker in the famous 13X.The Supers ran a make-up event and Bob Clark secured the top spot all the way to the
end with Carl Bittenbender earning every inch of speedway enroute to his 2nd place run.Rich Sanford is becoming a solid runner
and his 3rd place efforts were much rewarding. The Super II feature found the 707 of Charlie Bodine the 1st off the speedway
as the good times rolled into the pit area after his win.Dale Kober was 1 spot short of adding to his win totals but he was
denied by the Bodine racer. The 3rd spot was locked in for race # 2 just as it was for race # 1 as Rich Sanford grabbed another
podium finish. It has become a regular occurance to see Jacob Hendershot's name in the Junior finish somewhere well this time
it was again at the top of the list with Colin White getting some great track time in his strong run for 2nd.Justin Brewster
headed under the checkers in 3rd.The Empire Region and 1st Junior National for 2008 headed to Wyalusing Valley on Sunday and
the afternnoon racing left many wanting more as Nunzi Allegrucci and Ben Whitaker ran side-by-side for the last 1/2 of the
A Main with Nunzi just getting the victory.Ben Whitaker worked hard for 2nd as Billy Clark took the Clark Garage 23c to the
pit area after his 3rd place efforts. The 1st Junior National of 2008 had a great showing as Mikey Horton definitely had his plan
of attack in high gear. Making the tow from Central New Jersey was Brett Hoffmaster and it paid off to the tune
of a second place run.Joseph Kata III picked up where he left off in 2007 as he recorded another good point total
after his 3rd place tally.

Much has been said about what it takes to be a race car driver in general and there can be no denying
that Slingshot drivers whether you are 6 or 86 pass this test with flying colors about your abilities behind the
steering wheel. The Slingshots have come a long way since 1999 and Rich Tobias has maintained the "Launching Racing Careers"
and" Affordable Racing Technology"is the wave of the future.Slingshots have now raced in 14 states with 3 more being added
before the 2008 season is over. The weekly tracks, the tour series and the season ending awards banquet have made the Slingshots
one of the fastest growing and most entertaining forms of racing in the US today.Purses for the Slingshots are better than
some so called higher classes of racing, comraderie among rival teams is unmatched in many circles.Family unity is very much
alive in the Slingshot ranks. Many Slingshot drivers have taken bigger steps and moved up the racing ladder. Many drivers that
had racing experience in the big cars have not stepped down but added to the enjoyment of still being able to strap into a
race car and keep their racing juices flowing. With this being said, there is no one out there today that this class isn't for.Slingshots
are real race cars, the drivers are real drivers and the fans are real race fans,so when you see a youngster or an older racing
fan cheering you on,please remember one day they could be your toughest competitor but treat them like you would like to be
treated in return and keep the Slingshots a fan friendly class of racing. It will benefit everyone in the long run.

Slingshot Series
Wyalusing Valley Motorsports Park
Wyalusing Valley Motorsports Park is pleased to announce a special race series spotlighting the Junior Slingshots. This 4 race series will provide the talented youngsters with an opportunity to compete
and gain experience in a neutral setting, while competing for the title of “Fountain of Youth Series Champion”. The champion will be honored and awarded a trophy at the WVMP 2008 awards banquet. Aside from giving
current junior slingshot drivers a chance to race at a new facility, it also gives WVMP the opportunity to showcase a new
division and consider it for more frequent competition in 2009. If we see a reasonable
amount of support from the juniors, and those that run the series express a serious interest in running on a more regular
basis at WVMP in 2009, whether it be weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, we may consider adding the division next season.
